🎸 MEET THE ARTISTS — Troll’s Toy [PT]
🗓️ TOMORROW Friday, June 19 · 21:30
📍 VIC Aveiro Arts House // Secret Cinema

Before they take the stage tomorrow at VIC’s Secret Cinema, let’s take a closer look at Troll’s Toy , one of Aveiro’s most distinctive voices in contemporary exploratory music.

Formed by Gabriel Neves (tenor saxophone), Jorge Loura (baritone guitar) and João Martins (drums), Troll’s Toy emerged from a shared background in the band Souq, developing a unique language somewhere between jazz improvisation, experimental rock and spontaneous composition.

Across their releases, like 18:05 (2019), Eksterordinare (2021), Synesthesia (2023) and Palingenesis (2024), the trio has built a sound shaped by contrasts: structure and chaos, silence and noise, restraint and eruption. With explosive rhythmic interplay, extended saxophone explorations and the unusual textures of the baritone guitar, Troll’s Toy create music that feels unpredictable yet deeply connected.

As Revista Rua described it, “Home-grown talent is often worth its weight in gold, and Troll’s Toy proved exactly that with a fantastic concert, delivering a fusion jazz approach infused with rock and experimental touches.”

Tomorrow, they join Fabulous Austrian Trio fabulousaustriantrio for a night dedicated to adventurous music and unexpected encounters. Don’t miss it!

🗓️ Friday, June 19 · 21:30
📍 VIC Aveiro Arts House // Secret Cinema

Ahead of their performance at VIC’s Secret Cinema, get to know Fabulous Austrian Trio (FAT) .fabulousaustriantrio, the long-running collaboration between three remarkable musicians: guitarist Alex Machacek, bassist Raphael Preuschl and drummer Herbert Pirker.

Operating somewhere between jazz-fusion, progressive rock, funk and what they affectionately call “Disco-Prog”, FAT has built a distinctive sound where intricate compositions, infectious grooves and spontaneous improvisation coexist. At the centre of the trio is the chemistry between its members, mixing dazzling guitar work, powerful rhythmic foundations, and constantly shifting textures that come together in music that is technically adventurous but always playful, energetic and alive.

As John Kelman wrote for All About Jazz: “Clearly, the chemistry between the three musicians is something that inspires Machacek to some of his finest playing yet.”

Expect explosive grooves and a live performance where anything can happen. Don’t miss this special double bill with Troll’s Toy .

🌪️ MEET THE ARTISTS - We Use Cookies (Simon Henocq) [FR]
⚡ VIC × GrETUA
🗓️ Friday, June 12 · 22:00
📍 GrETUA, Aveiro

The final artist joining this special VIC × GrETUA collaboration is French musician, producer and sound artist Simon Henocq (), presenting his solo project "We Use Cookies".

Co-founder and artistic director of the Coax collective (), Henocq has built a distinctive practice at the intersection of experimental electronics, electroacoustic composition and sound art. Through "We Use Cookies", he explores sound as a living, unstable material: something that bends, fractures, expands and reassembles itself in real time.

Built from industrial textures, electronic noise pulsations, abrupt ruptures, and intricate layers of sonic detail, his performances create immersive environments where chaos and precision coexist. Metallic resonances, distorted signals and fragile acoustic gestures emerge and disappear, producing a constantly evolving relationship between sound, space and perception.

Intense, unpredictable and deeply immersive, "We Use Cookies" closes a line-up dedicated to adventurous listening and exploratory sound.
Reserve your seat and join us at GrETUA on June 12.

⚡ VIC × GrETUA
🗓️ Friday, June 12 · 22:00
📍 GrETUA, Aveiro

As we count down to June 12, we’re continuing the introductions of our performing artists. Ar Ker is the solo project of French drummer, composer and producer Seb Brun (), an artist whose work inhabits a constantly shifting space between percussion, electronics, repetition and transformation.

Using an augmented drum kit that combines acoustic percussion with live electronic processing, Brun builds performances where rhythm becomes both structure and disruption. Through layering, distortion, saturation and repetition, he creates immersive environments that feel equally ritualistic and mechanical.

As Sónia Felizardo wrote for Threshold Magazine, “Seb Brun’s music translates into a pure sonic exercise that makes use of repetition, layered textures, temporal distortion and different scales of auditory perception.”
Part ritual, part sonic architecture, Ar Ker is a live experience designed to be felt as much as heard.

Reserve your seat and join us at GrETUA on June 12.

✨ MEET THE ARTISTS - Má Estrela [PT]
⚡ VIC × GrETUA
🗓️ Friday, June 12 · 22:00
📍 GrETUA, Aveiro

Before they take the stage at GrETUA on June 12, we’re taking a closer look at the artists shaping this special VIC × GrETUA collaboration.
Led by Pedro Alves Sousa (), Má Estrela brings together an exceptional group of musicians, such as Gabriel Ferrandini (), Bruna de Moura (), Bruno Silva () and Simão Simões (.simoes), in a collective project that refuses easy categorisation.

Drawing from jazz, dub, ambient music, footwork and exploratory electronics, the quintet creates immersive environments where rhythm, texture and improvisation remain in constant transformation. Their music moves between meditative states and physical propulsion, balancing deep listening with a strong sense of movement.

Their latest album, "Tornada", released through Discrepant (.i.s.c.r.e.p.a.n.t), further expands this unique language, combining echoes of dub traditions, contemporary electronic music and free improvisation into something entirely their own

Expect hypnotic grooves, adventurous improvisation and a performance that constantly reinvents itself!
Reserve your seat and join us at GrETUA on June 12.

❄️ A closer look at Adventures in a Blizzard by Skier and Yeti
VIC NIC · VN010

Now that the storm has officially landed, take a closer look at the record in all its snowy glory.

Pressed as a limited edition white 12” vinyl LP, Adventures in a Blizzard was carefully crafted from beginning to end: recorded between ZMAJ studios () and an old cabin in the woods by Caspar Wijnberg () and Skretch Majstor Ljuban (), mixed and mastered by VIC’s resident sound wizard Lucas Palmeira (), featuring artwork by Skier and Yeti () themselves, with additional design by Nayara Siller (). This vinyl record is, of course, dipped in white, reminiscent of Skier and Yeti’s snowy background.

This record marks ten years of Skier and Yeti’s wonderfully peculiar universe: a world of breakbeats, heavy bass, psychedelic detours and handmade instruments built from winter sports equipment!

Again, the vinyl is a VERY limited edition, so get yours while you can!

🎻 MEET THE ARTIST — Ricardo Jacinto
Live at Vic Aveiro Arts House
🗓️ Saturday, May 23 · 21:30

Before Ricardo Jacinto returns to VIC’s Secret Cinema on Saturday, here’s a closer look at the artist behind the performance.

Musician, visual artist, architect and founder of OSSO Associação Cultural , Ricardo has spent decades building a singular body of work that moves between sound, improvisation and spatial thinking. His practice spans across music, performance, architecture and installation, constantly exploring the relationship between listening, territory and experience.

In Jacinto’s hands, the cello becomes a micro-territory: a dynamic field of acoustic potential where distributed excitation and amplification reveal a complex topography of resonant behaviours.

Alongside an extensive collaborative journey across Portugal and Europe, he has composed for film, theatre and dance, worked with countless artists and ensembles, and presented his work in institutions such as Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, Culturgest, CCB, Palais de Tokyo and many others.

Tomorrow, he brings that same exploratory spirit into an intimate solo performance. Bring a friend and join us!
