It is situated in the province of Ribatejo in middle centre of Portugal, nearby it's capital district Santarém, at the heart of Portugal at 70 Km from Lisbon.

The FIFCA Portugal Folk Dance Group , representing the Organization of FIFCA PORTUGAL FESTIVAL, (Festival International de Folklore Culture e Arts ) represents a period in Ribatejo's history situat

ed between 1925-1935 and it's characterized by a dominant agriculture with lots of work force specially women. However, the first folk group of the municipality of Almeirim picked up it's origins on one of the biggest rivers of the Iberian Peninsula the river Tejo and the river fishermen. Some of dances and costumes it is still included in the actual folk group. Presently, our group represents the labour on the fields, with costumes from the bulls keeper with their horses as well as at the river during the first fifty years of the 20th century. It has got a repertoire of 42 dances representing ethnographic pictures of Almeirim Villages, traditions and preserving our popular culture. The FIFCA Portugal Folk Dance Group has already travelled around Europe with presences recently in Turquey and among other countries. During the 2008 year, the FIFCA Portugal Folk Dance Group organized the first edition of the FIFCA – Festival International de Folklore Culture e Arts which brought to our town groups from around the world , like, England, Italy, Angola, Greece, Senegal, Brasil, Ucrania, Servia, Paraguai, Egipto, Polónia, Lituania, and on 2014, we consolidate our international festival with important presences. This group is made with a selection of dancers from various partner groups, of the organization 's FIFCA , and only participate in international events .
