🇵🇹Estamos super entusiasmados por nos juntarmos ao no fim de semana para o AljezurSurf Fest. Estamos prontos para lançar a nova edição do ReGeneration Surf no domingo, 27 de abril.
Como surfistas, estamos profundamente ligados ao Oceano e queremos vê-lo protegido - não só para nós, mas para as gerações futuras.
Portugal está a fazer um bom trabalho no que diz respeito à proteção dos oceanos. Mas o que é que acontece ao largo da costa, onde o oceano é vasto, profundo e sem lei? As águas a mais de 200 milhas são conhecidas como alto mar. Estas áreas não pertencem a nenhum país, mas são consideradas uma responsabilidade partilhada por todos.
Após quase 20 anos de negociações nas Nações Unidas, o Tratado do Alto Mar foi finalmente adotado em 2023. Ainda precisamos que 39 países ratifiquem oficialmente o Tratado até setembro de 2025 para que este se torne lei internacional. E Portugal ainda não o ratificou.
A nossa mensagem é simples: apelamos a Portugal - e às restantes nações - para que ratifiquem o Tratado do Alto Mar antes da Conferência dos Oceanos da ONU, em junho.

🇬🇧We are super excited to be joining at the weekend for the AljezurSurf Fest. We’re set to launch the new edition of ReGeneration Surf on Sunday 27 April.
As surfers, we are deeply connected to the Ocean, and we want to see it protected—not just for us, but for future generations.
Portugal is doing a pretty good job when it comes to ocean protection. But what about far offshore, where the Ocean is vast, and deep, and lawless. The waters further out than 200 miles are known as the High Seas. No single country owns these areas; but they are considered the shared responsibility of all.
After nearly 20 years of United Nations negotiations, the High Seas Treaty was finally adopted in 2023. We still need 39 countries to officially ratify the Treaty by September 2025 in order for it to become international law. And Portugal has not yet ratified.
Our message is simple: we call on Portugal—and the remaining nations—to ratify the High Seas Treaty before the UN Ocean Conference in June.
