It’s true. I’m not Palestinian and to those who find it really upsetting that I’m speaking about my life in Palestine, or about Palestinian heritage, I get it. Palestinians have been stomped on and genocided and silenced and side lined for so very long, that of course it’s really problematic for a non Palestinian to be representing. But here’s the thing, I’m not representing any Palestinians. Just myself and my family, and of course my projects. The point is, you should be always seeking out and listening to and amplifying Palestinians in Palestine. And also while we’re on this, they called for a boycott so listen to them and get on board already!

This is a magical moment I shared with Souheil from .fairkost up at conservation project. As a Palestinian, even though he has German citizenship and can travel far and wide—often without a visa—he is forbidden by his colonizers from ever touching, swimming in, or even seeing the sea of his ancestors. Even I, as an American citizen—because I committed the crime of marrying a Palestinian—am forbidden from seeing or touching the sea. It is a punishment against my family, or any Palestinian family, for marrying a foreign national.

So you can imagine our joy, or rather you can hear it, when we realized we could actually see the sea that was forever out of reach. It was a beautiful moment and also so bitter.

The Israeli occupation controls EVERYTHING and seeks to imprison Palestinian lives in increasingly tiny bantustans.

The Israelis steal life, steal, bodies, steal childhoods…

They have still not, until the moment of posting, returned this boy’s body.

This is the story of every Palestinian. The complete denial of human rights and dignity.

Tuwani is not only a village, it’s the lands where the people have cared for their olives, planted ancient wheat grains and grazed their flock. It was over 10,000 dunamms.

Today the people are forbidden to go to their lands and can only walk and graze their sheep within the the center of town where the houses are, a mere 150 dunnams from the ten thousand.

In 2000 the Israelis began constructing a colony for Israeli Jews, in defiance of international law; it is called Mazarat Ma’on
Most of these settlers are right wing; they are violent and their settlement spans 1500 dunamms…of Tuwani’s land.

When I was there, 300 sheep had been stolen two nights before. Only 1700 sheep were left in the town between the families of Tuwani. Ten years ago, the villagers boasted 5000 sheep between themselves.

People can’t graze their flock and are forced to buy feed that is so expensive…they can’t afford to keep their sheep, to maintain their livelihoods.

And so we drive with our partners at Maan lil Hayyat to Tuwani to express our solidarity and support, choosing to source our wool from these families who have no other options in the face of settler violence and land theft.

Easter is a time of hope and rebirth. And we can only hope that justice and peace may be in our future.

From the land of Jesus, where Palestinian are stewarding not only the land but the holy sites and traditions, Happy Easter!

Did you know that Palestinian Christians are called First Christians because they are believed to be descendants of the disciples of Jesus. The Christian community in occupied Palestine traces their lineage back 2,000 years but they are almost totally ethnically cleansed from Palestine today due to the brutal and ongoing # Israeli occupation and genocides.

When my kids were born we could not even register them as Americans born abroad and get passports. This is the story for so many Palestinian Americans. And when we tried to go to our appointment at the US Embassy for my first born, the Israeli soldiers took us out of our car with my 7 day old alone in his car seat, and threatened to arrest my husband—the Palestinian and easier target, and prevented us.

It’s not the worst story in Palestine by any stretch of the imagination. In fact it’s so typical.

And that my friends is the greatest illustration of this daily oppression and violation of every human right…and the world allows it.

Even holy-days are occupied in Palestine. But the most beautiful thing is that people come together and worship and celebrate despite the gross violations of human rights and dignity. So from Malawi, Happy Easter, and from Occupied Palestine, Happy Palm Sunday!

And thank you Kristy Shammas for the footage from church today. ❤️

After working with a lot of people to make this happen urgently, I want to reflect on how frustrating it all is. The US Embassy in Israel is absolutely USELESS for US citizens who are occupied—which is a lot of us! And every time the guy helping me rings, I expect him to say “Sorry Morgan, it’s not going to work.” Instead he’s finding ways around and under and behind the obstacles that are thrown at Palestinians and then saying “Tawakkaltu ‘ala Allah”…and honestly, leaving it to God right now feels like the best chance we have.

Happy Palm Sunday! Did you know that Palestinian Christians all come together and celebrate on the Orthodox Easter dates but at Christmas they all celebrate together in the Roman dates? That’s because it’s such a tiny community of First Christians that remain today in Palestine.

Also super important-did you know that the Israeli Occupation has closed the Church of the Holy Selphulcre—where it is believed Jesus was buried and rose again—to all Palestinians Christians and others this Holy Week!! Can you imagine?!

Let me count the ways Israeli Occupation renders life for Palestinians families impossible…

I always feel like an ass posting about challenges under occupation because compared to Gaza and some parts of the West Bank, they are so little. But these are human rights violations. And they offer a tiny glimpse into the evil machinations of Occupation’s efforts are rendering life in Palestine difficult.

Palestinians after millennia of caring for this land, have to live under the heavy and violent restrictions of a military occupation of a settler colonial state that shouts forbidden in their faces at every turn. Red Sea, forbidden. Dead Sea, forbidden. Sea of Galilee, forbidden. Mediterranean, forbidden. Life and land, forbidden.
