On Saturday, the BuildPalestine team spent the day in Bethlehem.
We started by joining an event organized by the .zahi.khouri at Dar al-Kalima University, one of the social entrepreneurship support organizations that we support through technical assistance and funding to strengthen entrepreneurship and social innovation pathways for students and graduates. Held in the beautiful landscape of Al-Makhrour, the gathering brought together graduating students to explore their next steps and connect with organizations supporting entrepreneurship in Palestine. Being there was also a reminder of the importance of protecting and remaining connected to places like Al-Makhrour, which continue to face ongoing threats of confiscation.
We then celebrated the third anniversary of .cabinet, one of our RISE fellows and a growing home for artists and artisans in Bethlehem.
We also had the chance to meet Jabra Dukmak, one of our current ROOT fellows and the founder of Laheq Halak, a tech-enabled solution working to reduce food waste and connect surplus food with families who need it.
From universities and creative spaces to entrepreneurs building solutions within their communities, days like these remind us that social innovation in Palestine is deeply rooted in people, place, and collective action. 🌿 Let’s build!
