نقابة الصحفيين الفلسطينيين تستنكر إطلاق قوات الاحتلال الإسرائيلي الرصاص المطاطي على الزميل المصور الصحفي عصام الريماوي (مصور صحيفة "الحياة الجديدة") ما أدى إلى إصابته في القدم، أثناء تغطيته الصحفية في قرية دير أبو مشعل غرب رام الله.
تؤكد النقابة أن إطلاق قوات الاحتلال الرصاص على الصحفيين أثناء تأديتهم واجبهم المهني يمثل اعتداءً خطيراً على حرية الصحافة ومحاولة لترهيب الطواقم الإعلامية ومنعها من نقل الحقيقة وتوثيق الانتهاكات على الأرض. تحمّل النقابة سلطات الاحتلال المسؤولية عن سلامة الصحفيين وتطالب بتوفير الحماية الدولية لهم ومحاسبة المسؤولين عن استهدافهم ووضع حدٍّ لهذه الاعتداءات التي تهدد حياة الصحفيين وتقوّض حرية العمل الإعلامي.
The Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate condemns the firing of rubber bullets by Israeli occupation forces at colleague Issam Al-Rimawi, a photojournalist with Al-Hayat Al-Jadida newspaper, which resulted in an injury to his foot while he was covering events in the village of Deir Abu Mash’al, west of Ramallah.
The Syndicate stresses that Israeli occupation forces’ firing at journalists as they carry out their professional duties constitutes a serious attack on press freedom and an attempt to intimidate media crews and prevent them from reporting the truth and documenting violations on the ground. The Syndicate holds the Israeli occupation authorities responsible for journalists’ safety, calls for international protection for them, demands accountability for those responsible for targeting journalists, and urges an end to these attacks that endanger journalists’ lives and undermine press freedom.
