Four years ago today, veteran journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, was killed by Israeli Occupying Forces while covering a military raid in Jenin, in the occupied West Bank, clearly identifiable in her press vest. Today, there has still been no justice for Shireen.Instead, has escalated its targeting of journalists, killing more journalists than any nation on record, according the Committee to Protect Journalists.
Even in death, police attacked Shireen’s funeral procession, beating pallbearers, and firing tear gas, while flags were torn from mourners’ hands before she was laid to rest in Jerusalem, Palestine’s capital.
Our Forensic Architecture Investigation Unit’s joint investigation into Shireen’s killing found that she and her fellow journalists were deliberately and repeatedly targeted, with intent to kill.
