Birzeit University mourns the loss of its student, martyr Omar Mohammad Naji Al-Naasan, who had only recently been admitted to the University and was expected to begin his university studies at the end of September. Tomorrow, he had been eagerly awaiting the results of the second round of the General Secondary Education Examination (Tawjihi), hoping to improve his grade and gain admission to the academic program he dreamed of pursuing.
However, Israeli occupation forces’ gunfire and settler attacks on the town of Al-Mughayyir prevented Omar from continuing his journey toward that dream. He was killed before taking the first steps of his university journey, joining the procession of Palestine’s martyrs.
Omar is gone, but his dream remains—a testament to the future he had envisioned, the field of study he aspired to pursue, and the university days that should have brought him together with his fellow students on the campus of Birzeit University.
The University extends its deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the family and loved ones of the martyr, and particularly to his two siblings: Tharaa, a Birzeit University graduate, and Momen, a current Birzeit University student. We pray that God grants them strength and solace, and blesses them with patience and fortitude in the face of this profound loss.
تنعى جامعة بيرزيت الطالب الشهيد عمر محمد ناجي النعسان، الذي كان على أبواب الالتحاق بجامعة بيرزيت، وكان من المفترض أن يبدأ دراسته الجامعية مع نهاية شهر أيلول، فيما كان ينتظر غدًا نتائج الدورة الثانية من الثانوية العامة، آملًا في تحسين معدله والالتحاق بالتخصص الذي يحلم به.
لكن رصاص الاحتلال واعتداءات المستوطنين على بلدة المغير حالت دون أن يواصل عمر طريقه نحو حلمه، فارتقى شهيدًا، ملتحقًا بموكب شهداء فلسطين، قبل أن يبدأ أولى خطواته في رحلته الجامعية.
رحل عمر، وبقي حلمه شاهدًا على مستقبل كان يتطلع إليه، وتخصص كان يطمح إلى دراسته، وأيام جامعية كان يفترض أن تجمعه بزملائه في رحاب جامعة بيرزيت.
وتتقدم الجامعة بأصدق مشاعر التعزية والمواساة إلى أسرة الشهيد وذويه، وإلى شقيقيه، خريجة الجامعة ثراء وطالب الجامعة مؤمن، سائلين الله أن يربط على قلوبهم، وأن يلهمهم الصبر والقوة في هذا المصاب الجلل.
رحم الله عمر، وتقبّله شهيدًا، وغفر له، وأسكنه فسيح جناته، وألهم أهله وذويه ومحبيه الصبر والسلوان.
