๐ŸŒŠ Field Visit for Comprehensive Dams Assessment

As part of the Dams Safety Assessment and Design Project, the project team conducted a field visit in Jordan to carry out a comprehensive dams assessment, covering structural safety, operational requirements, maintenance needs, and other related technical aspects.

This visit marks a promising start to the collaboration between the Palestinian Wastewater Engineers Group (PWEG), ACE (Jordan), IPRESAS (Spain), and IDROSTUDI (Italy), under the wise and effective management of the Jordan Valley Authority (JVA)

Kick Off Meeting, Cagliari 15/1/2026.(Second Day)
Project financed by the Interreg NEXT MED Programme

In the morning it was held by the delegation of the project partners - including PWEG, ENAS, CRENoS, Jericho Governorate and NARC - a meeting with the president of the Regional Council of Sardinia Region, Piero Comandini. The president welcomed the participants and gave emphasis to such action to contrast climate change in the Mediterranean' region. Later the partners had the opportunity to visit the Arenas wastewater treatment plant, in the Molentargius natural park area. The session of works of the Kick Off Meeting event ended with the project Steering Committee in the Aula Magna of Cagliari University. Cagliari, 14.01.2026. today, in the Aula Magna Girolamo Sotgiu of the University of Cagliari it tooks place the Kick Off Meeting of the project Mediterranean initiative to REgenerate wastewater Sludges for Optimal Use towaRd a Circular Economy project. A three-year cross-border initiative to promote innovation in water management in the Mediterranean region, funded by the Interreg NEXT MED Programme.
Institutional greetings were presented by Giovanna Medde (GD Managing Authority Interreg NEXT MED Programme), Stefano Usai (Rector's Delegate of the University of Cagliari), Hussein Hamayael (Jericho governor), Anna Pinna (GD CRENoS) and Francesco Agus (member of the regional board in charge for agricultural). The opening session saw the participation of engineer Monther Hind, director of the Palestinian Wastewater Engineers Group lead applicant of the project, Marco Soriga ENAS sole Director, Manuela Pintus mayor of Arborea, Martin Heibel and Laura Pinna respectively Communications Manager and Expert in project monitoring of the Managing Authority of Interreg NEXT MED Programme.

A meeting was held today in Ramallah with the General Director of Agricultural Land at the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) (ูˆุฒุงุฑุฉ ุงู„ุฒุฑุงุนุฉ ุงู„ูู„ุณุทูŠู†ูŠุฉ).

The MoA is the main stakeholder responsible for agriculture and soil quality. The meeting was attended by Eng. Monther Hind (PWEG), Eng. Ammar Salahet, and Eng. Imad Ghanmeh (MoA).

During the meeting, Eng. Hind briefed MoA officials on the project, providing an overview of the Interreg NEXT MED Programme and its objectives. He highlighted the Living Lab in Jericho, where properly treated, high-quality sludge will be recycled in a safe and sustainable manner.

Eng. Ammar emphasized that sludge management and disposal represent a major challenge in Palestine and the region, and noted the Ministry of Agricultureโ€™s encouragement to work towards proper and environmentally sound disposal solutions.

At the end of the meeting, all parties agreed to maintain continuous communication with the Ministry of Agriculture and to keep it informed and actively involved in the projectโ€™s activities.

PWEG and Jericho Governorate strengthen collaboration on MedRESOURCE project.

Jericho. On the 28th of December a meeting was chaired by the Governor of Jericho and Al-Aghwar, his HE Dr. Hussein Hamayel, and brought together key stakeholders, including the Palestinian Wastewater Engineers Group, representatives of beneficiary institutions, and relevant local authorities. The discussion focused on next activities within the framework of the EU-funded MedRESOURCE project, implemented through the Interreg NEXT MED Programme. The discussion focus on setting priorities for the first year of implementation.

The meeting included Mr. Mohammad Al-Qawasmi, President of the Al-Aghwar Date Palm Farmers Cooperative Association, and Eng. Ashraf Barakat, Director of the Directorate of Agriculture, at the Governorate headquarters. The participants aimed to review project agenda to improve soil quality and producing compost from date palm pruning.

MedRESOURCE is considered a pioneering initiative that aims to recycle sewage sludge from wastewater treatment plants within the framework of the circular economy.

The Palestinian Wastewater Engineers Group (PWEG) is pleased to announce the launch of a tender for the supply and delivery of one (1) brand new SUV under the MedRESOURCE project, co-financed by the European Union ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ through the NEXT MED Programme 2021โ€“2027.

Eligible and qualified suppliers are invited to submit sealed quotations in EURO, exempted from customs and VAT, in accordance with the instructions provided in the tender dossier.

Cagliari 22 December 2025. Enas and CRENoS, Italian partners of the MedRESOURCE project, co-financed by the NEXT MED Programme, held a meeting with the beneficiaries of the initiative, the Arborea producers' cooperative.
The implementation of the pilot plant was at the center of the meeting. It was presented the new scheme of the animal wastewater treatment plant: sludge pre-treatment, collection and sorting modules.
The new structure will be located near the biodigester tanks in Arborea, in the area where previously was operating the MEDISS project.
The director Marco Peterle and the agronomist Pasqualino Tammaro participated in the meeting for the Arborea Producers Cooperative. Present on behalf of ENAS were Maria A. Dessena, Amedeo Fadda and Andrea Virdis. Professor Giovanni Sistu (CRENoS) coordinated the discussion.
