The shelter is the first and ONLY animal shelter in the West Bank, and the services we try to provide are therefore very much needed in this area. We are a team of local and international volunteers dedicated to providing animals safety and respect. There is a growing population of stray dogs and cats in the West Bank, and we are working towards keeping the population down by spaying and neutering

, which is a humane and ethical option compared to poisoning and shooting. The second is a popular, yet inefficient, and cruel way of trying to solve this issue. However, the authorities continue to use these methods, because it is less costly, compared to spaying and neutering and feeding the animals. Part of our work includes trying to find new homes for our rescues, spaying/neutering, providing vaccines, microchip, feeding, and surgeries for hurt and abused animals. In addition to this, we also try to raise awareness about animal welfare and why it is important. One of the ways we do this is by visiting school and educating the children about animal welfare and the environment. This is in hope that the coming generations will accept and respect life in all forms, and this way of thinking will create a better life for both humans and animals.

💔 We were truly sickened to hear about the brutal attack on Lucy last Friday.

A masked intruder on her family's property was caught on camera violently beating Lucy, a helpless family dog, in the village of Atara. The poor thing was tied to a post and utterly defenseless against this horrific cruelty. We still shudder to think of the attacks on innocent animals that aren't caught on film.

🙏 The good news: Despite suffering severe injuries, Lucy survived. Her family rushed her to urgent veterinary care, and she is now recovering (swipe to see her treatment photos 💔🐾).

Animal cruelty has no place in our world. Sending so much love to Lucy and her family for a swift recovery.

🎙️🐾 SPEAKING UP FOR THE VOICELESS 🐾🎙️
Recently, our very own Diana took to the airwaves on Bethlehem’s Radio Mawwal for a live panel discussion! Joined by dedicated volunteers Manal Al Hadweh and Amira, they shined a vital spotlight on the harsh realities facing local stray dogs.
They didn't hold back, tackling the tough issues head-on: ❌ The widespread hostility and hatred toward stray animals. ❌ The cruel practice of poisoning. ❌ The daily suffering these dogs endure on the streets.
The Real Solution: Diana shared updates from our recent meeting with the Ministry of Civil Council, emphasizing a crucial truth: poisoning is not the answer. The only humane and effective path forward is a strict TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and vaccination program. 💉🐕
Moving Forward Together: We cannot do this alone. We are demanding a united front and joint cooperation from all key parties, including: Syndicates & Municipalities 🏛️ The Ministry of Health 🩺 The Ministry of Agriculture 🌾 The Veterinary Department 🩺
It’s time for collective action to create a safer, more compassionate community for everyone—humans and animals alike.

نبذل قصارى جهدنا لإدارة وحماية الكلاب في منطقتنا من خلال برنامجنا المستمر للتعقيم (Trap, Neuter, Release->TNR)، كمين، إخصاء، إطلاق، وبرنامج المأوى.
لإطلاع الجميع، إليكم كيفية تحديد الكلاب الموجودة حاليًا تحت رعايتنا:
الرعاية الطبية والسلامة:
يتلقى كل كلب نستقبله جميع التطعيمات والعلاج اللازم ضد الديدان والبراغيث.

نظام العلامات:
إذا رأيتم كلبًا يحمل علامة أذن، فهذا يعني أنه معقم، وبصحة جيدة، وآمن للعيش في المجتمع. نستخدم علامات ملونة لتسهيل التعرف عليها:
العلامة الوردية: أنثى معقمة ♀️
العلامة الخضراء: ذكر معقم ♂️

المأوى والتبني:
يتم زرع شريحة إلكترونية في الكلاب الودودة والاجتماعية، وتبقى في المأوى بانتظار إيجاد منازل دائمة لها. أما الكلاب غير الاجتماعية، فتُعاد إلى مناطقها بعد العلاج، حيث يمكنها العيش بأمان بعد تطعيمها وتعقيمها.

هذه العلامات بمثابة إشارة للجميع بأن هذه الكلاب تحظى بالرعاية. يرجى البحث عنها!

Update on Our TNR & Sterilization Program 🐾
We are working hard to manage and protect our local dog population through our ongoing TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) and shelter program. To keep everyone informed, here is how we are identifying the dogs currently under our care:
Medical Care & Safety
Every dog we process receives full vaccinations and treatment for worms and fleas.
The Tag System
If you see a dog with an ear tag, it means they are sterilized, healthy, and safe to have in the community. We use color-coded tags so you can easily identify them:
Pink Tag: Sterilized Female ♀️
Green Tag: Sterilized Male ♂️
Shelter & Adoption
Friendly, socialized dogs are microchipped and remain at the shelter while they wait for their forever homes. Unsocialized dogs are returned to their areas after treatment, where they can live safely now that they are vaccinated and fixed.
These tags are a signal to everyone that these dogs are cared for. Please look out for them!

The Shelter was alerted by Warda Najajre to a cat in dire condition at a local market. 🐾📉

The poor male, whom we have named Adeem, was struggling to see and suffering from a serious mouth infection. Because he was too fearful to be caught by hand, The Shelter set a trap to secure him safely. 🕸️🐈

Adeem was transported to the clinic of Dr. Ahmad Abu Dayyeh, where he has been receiving intensive treatment. Once his health stabilizes, he will be neutered and prepared for a better life. He is approximately 3 years old. 🙏🏥

Meet Rafi! 😿 Our worker, Sulaiman, was on his way to work yesterday when he heard cries coming from a closed cardboard box. 📦🐾
Someone had abandoned the box on a dangerously busy road, leaving this tiny kitten to a terrifying fate. The Shelter immediately rushed him to the vet, where he was treated for stomach issues. 🏥💊
Now healthy and safe, brave little Rafi is ready to find a loving forever home. He is 4-5 weeks old, has received de-worming treatment and will get vaccinated and spayed when he becomes old enough. ✨🏠

The Shelter is sending five rescues to forever homes in Germany! ✈️🇩🇪
The flight volunteer and their daughter will accompany dog Nando (not pictured) and cats (clockwise) Yanish, Pansy, Dora and Oliver. The Shelter is raising money for their airfare, as securing these permanent homes is far more cost-effective than providing long-term care at the facility. 🐕🐈

(English below) 💔 الليلة الماضية، وُزِّعت قطع دجاج مسمومة في أنحاء المنطقة. 🥩🚫 عُثر على عدة كلاب صغيرة نافقة؛ ورغم تمكّن الشهود من جمع عينات من الطعم وإنقاذ كلب واحد، إلا أن الخسارة كانت مُفجعة. 🐾🆘
كان من بين الضحايا كلب يُعاني أصلًا من حالة جلدية خطيرة. برغم معاناته من الألم والجوع اغرته هذة القطع السامة فقتلته... هذه الجريمة شنيعة. 🌈🐕
يشعر الملجأ بصدمة عميقة. ونحن ملتزمون بحماية هذه الكائنات الضعيفة من هذا العنف.

💔 Last night, many pieces of poisoned chicken were distributed across a local district. 🥩🚫 Several young dogs were discovered lifeless; while witnesses managed to collect samples of the bait and save one survivor, the loss is devastating. 🐾🆘
Among the victims was a dog already struggling with a severe skin condition. After enduring so much pain, he was lured by hunger and killed by this "evil" act. 🌈🐕
The Shelter is deeply shaken. We remain committed to protecting these vulnerable souls from such violence.

The Shelter is facing a critical financial crossroads. 🐾🆘

We recently managed several high-stakes cases at Royal Care Hospital, where dogs and cats spent weeks in the ICU undergoing critical surgeries and testing. 🏥💊 These life-saving measures have brought our medical debt to 12,000 NIS. 📉

Many believe that as an association, we can take on every animal in need. The heartbreaking truth is that our compassion is currently outweighed by our lack of funds. 💔 In addition to our hospital bills, we owe outstanding balances to three local Bethlehem veterinarians who support our mission. 🩺🐕

(English below) 🐾 مؤخرًا، عثرت السيدة هنادي، وهي إحدى سكان بيت جالا الطيبين، على كلبٍ ودودٍ يعاني من ألمٍ شديدٍ وعجزٍ عن الحركة على الرصيف. سارع الملجأ إلى نقله على وجه السرعة إلى عيادة الدكتور أحمد أبو دية.

أظهرت الفحوصات الطبية وجود كسرٍ في الحوض وآثار تسمم. ورغم الجهود الحثيثة التي بذلها الفريق البيطري لإنقاذه بالسوائل والعلاج، إلا أن الكلب نفق في اليوم التالي إثر نوباتٍ حادة.

إنها خسارةٌ فادحةٌ لهاندي، التي كانت ترعاه في الحي، ولفريق الملجأ. وبرغم قسوة ما حدث، فإننا نجد بعض العزاء في معرفة أنه حظي بالرعاية والكرامة في ساعاته الأخيرة..

🐾 Recently, a kind resident named Hanadi found a friendly local dog suffering and immobile on a sidewalk in Beit Jala. The shelter stepped in to provide emergency transport to the clinic of Dr. Ahmad Abu Dayyeh.
Medical examinations showed a pelvic fracture and evidence of poisoning. Despite the best efforts of the veterinary team to stabilize him with fluids and treatment, the dog succumbed to severe seizures the next day.
It is a heavy loss for Hanadi, who had cared for him in the neighborhood, and for the shelter team. We find small comfort in knowing he was shown kindness and dignity in his final hours.
