Did you know? A single Freedom Farm captures 18 thousand pounds of carbon dioxide annuallyβ€”9 million pounds over the tree’s lifespan. 🌏🌿

Olive trees are natural climate warriors. Their deep root system and natural resiliency enable them to withstand drought, poor soil quality, and extreme heat. The olive tree thrives where other crops fail. Their deep, complex root systems prevent erosion and help heal the soil, while its leafy branches provide much-needed shade in arid climates.

Ibraheem exemplifies Palestinian sumud - steadfastness. Despite his disability, this 59 year old father of 7 works the fields every day to provide for his family, and dreams of a better future for his children. His passion and devotion shine through in the words he shared with us:

"There are moments when I feel powerless in front of my children, and I carry this feeling
in silence. But when I stand on my land, something within me steadies. The land has
been my lifelong companion, the one thing that has never abandoned me. It knows my
exhaustion and my patience, and it constantly reassures me that no effort is wasted,
that its harvest will one day stand by me as support."

This year Abdul planted 250 olive saplings. As their roots take hold, so does his legacy, and the gift he offers to a future he may never see. These roots will stabilize the soil, sequester carbon, and prevent desertification, all while nourishing and protecting his family for generations to come. 🌏🌱

Not enough people know about the legacy of Allard K. Lowenstein. So we planted a Freedom Farm in his name. Now his values live on for generations to come.

πŸŒΏπŸ«’ Did you know? About 45% of agricultural lands in Palestine are planted with olives, accounting for 80% of all orchards. In a good year, olive production can account for up to 14% of the local economy. Olive farming, which once supported 100,000 Palestinian families, is in sharp decline.

Treedom for Palestine works with the Palestinian Farmers Union to plant 1-hectare Freedom Farms, protected by steel fencing and nourished with underground drip irrigation that both preserves scarce water and ensures Palestinian control over the water supply.
