Alternative Information Center – Palestine, together with Médecins du Monde – Switzerland and ActionAid Palestine, launches the “Safe Access to Education” campaign… Compensating for learning loss in a number of schools in Bethlehem, Yatta, and Al-Fawwar
Since mid-June 2026, the three organizations have launched the learning-loss compensation campaign in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Education and the Bethlehem and Yatta Directorates of Education. Hundreds of children in grades two, three, and four benefit from the campaign in the areas of compensating for learning loss in mathematics and Arabic language, along with a similar number of students in grades six and seven who benefit in the area of psychosocial support.
These activities, which targeted Al-Tawani, Ein al-Rafa’iya, and Al-Fawwar schools south of Hebron Governorate, and Al-Khansa, Al-Manya, and Kaysan schools east of Bethlehem (under the Bethlehem Directorate of Education), were preceded by a series of training sessions and preparatory meetings for a number of teachers, supervisors, school principals, educational psychological counselors, and parents. These were followed by the completion of pre- and post-tests for the targeted students. Each group was given 10 learning-loss sessions in Arabic and mathematics, and 4 mental health sessions.
These sessions will continue for three academic semesters, and the number of children benefiting from these activities is expected to exceed 1,500 boys and girls.
It should be noted that this campaign came as a substantive response to the educational and psychological needs of children resulting from closures, strikes, and the reduction of school hours due to the political, social, economic, and security conditions the Palestinian people have been experiencing for several years.
The field implementation of these activities and events is overseen by the Alternative Information Center – Palestine, represented by its director Mr. Nassar Ibrahim, the Chairman of the Board of Directors Mr. Muawiya Awad, and the Center’s Programs Officer Mr. A’ed Hushiya, through a high level of cooperation and coordination with the supporting organizations Médecins du Monde – Switzerland and ActionAid Palestine.
