M.A.D House - Middle East

M.A.D House - Middle East M.A.D.HOUSE (Make A Difference)- Middle East, is a program that is helping with the development and Palestinians are good enough athletes. M.A.D.

M.A.D.House is helping the people of Palestine develop a successful basketball program for the future. We are doing so by working hand in hand with the Palestinian Basketball Federation, Children Without Borders along with several others by:

1. Training the young people in the government schools in Bethlehem, Beit Jala and Beit Sahour and their suburbs. The M.A.D coaching staff currently goes to

more than 10 Palestinian Government schools teaching eighth, ninth and tenth graders all about basketball. By the end of the semester M.A.D house enables students to compete with students in other schools while learning how to properly compete. The training leading to competitions concentrates on learning the skills necessary to be successful players and teams. It is not about “plays” and “systems” it is about learning skills under the direction of a good teacher.

2. Training of coaches and referees
Incorporated into the training of students, we work with teachers/coaches at the local schools with the desire, openness and willingness to learn about the game of basketball. We equip them with skills to assume coaching responsibilities. In addition to on-the-job training, we meet with them to prepare them for the skills to be taught each week. we're hoping this will result in the “good coaches” of the future coming from Palestine.

3. Leadership of the National Teams
Leadership at the National level involves recruiting, selecting, teaching and training players for international competition. They simply haven’t been trained in the skills of basketball sufficiently to be successful in international competition. Learning those skills will take time, patience and a willingness to work, but M.A.D house is committed to all of that and towards successfully creating a positive constructive change in the national Palestinian Basketball program. House understands that there are players all over Palestine who can’t get to a central location often enough to learn the necessary skills. Our coaches travel to the cities where the players are, train them there throughout the year and then bring them together whenever necessary. Note: M.A.D house coaching staff are available from (Sunday until Wednesday) at Beit al Liqa - Beit Jala from 3:00-5:00 pm for ANYONE who likes to be fundamentally trained in the game of basketball.

On September 9, 2013 the basketball federation signed a contract granting M.A.D House Basketball exclusive leadership of the Palestinian national basketball program for the next two years. A copy of the signed agreement is published below so that everyone can see what the agreement says.
The agreement grants M.A.D house the sole and exclusive authority for all basket decisions regarding the national basketball program including but not limited to the selection of coaches, players and how practices, camps, clinics and games are conducted.
The M.A.D house training program whether in Beit al Liqa or for the national teams is open to any player desiring to participate regardless of whether or not the player is affiliated with any basketball club. M.A.D house gives all of its time and efforts to benefit all of Palestine regardless of religion, s*x, economic or social status or the demographic or physical location of potential players.
The workouts we’ll be conducting are open to any player desiring to learn and develop the skills that will be necessary for inclusion on future National Teams. Any coaches desiring to learn the skills training techniques used by the National Team coaching staff are also welcomed to attend.
These workouts are specifically designed to teach the skills that are necessary for the Palestinian National Basketball Teams to be able to successfully compete in international competition. They have no bearing or impact whatsoever on any local club, school or university team. Those teams continue to be free to employ whatever coaching or training they desire for their teams.
Each participant in the National Team Skills Development workouts will be registered and the coaches will note the progress of the participants. Performance in the skills development workouts will be a primary factor in determining which players are selected to be a part of future National Teams.
