We are delighted to share that last week our Diaconia Ministry Team — Director Deaconess Rana Zeidan, Social Worker Josleen Shahwan, and Miss Nuha Estiphan from the Beit Jala congregation — participated in the “Global Diakonia Peer Learning” workshop in Amman, graciously organized by our partner FELM together with colleagues from congregations in Syria and Lebanon.
The workshop, now in its third year, was a powerful spiritual time of rich prayer and devotions, during which we shared experiences both biblical and practical in the field of diakonia: exploring together how the gospel calls us to serve, how Scripture guides us, and how practical action meets spiritual commitment. Through peer learning, fellowship, and mutual exchange, we returned inspired, equipped, and united in our mission to continue the diaconal work in our communities with greater vision and shared strength.
During the visit, the group met with Pastor Imad Haddad of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Amman, and Pastor Mark LaChonce, Pastor of the English Speaking congregation at Good Shepherd and the Director of the Bethany Beyond the Jordan Baptismal Site. Pastor Imad accompanied the group on field visits to the Baptismal Site and the local Anglican school for the deaf.
Our heartfelt thanks go to FELM, the facilitators, our colleagues across the region, and our own dedicated team.
