Who we are:
Bait Byout is a Palestinian nongovernmental youth-based independent organization established in 2006, registered as a charitable society with the Ministry of Interior, under the number RA-22445-HR. The organization’s work stems from its solid belief in the tools of LARP and Gaming as powerful and diverse tools for capacity-building, communication, conflict resolution, education, decision-making and addressing social and political issues. What started as a group of volunteers coming together to build a LARP community in Palestine, over the years, turned into a community of LARPers that expanded and flourished reaching out to new communities through a wide range of gaming and capacity-building activities executed in Palestine and supported and enhanced by the expertise and knowledge transferred by a network of partnerships with several LARP organizations operating in Europe. The name Bait Byout comes from the title of a popular roleplaying game for kids who pretend to be adults and create new and alternative realities. The LARP community and volunteers came together to carefully and gradually plan the steps needed for establishing a structured organization that has solid programs and a clear strategy, supported by the necessary comprehensive administrative and financial bylaws, policies, and procedures that would maximize the impact and the sustainability of Bait Byout in Palestine as the only LARP oriented organization in the Arab World. Bait Byout Vision:
A free and playful world that celebrates diversity and allows individuals to explore and accept one’s self and others. Bait Byout Mission:
Bait Byout thrives to provide a safe and loving space that celebrates expression and stimulates the creative imagination, spreading and promoting LARP and board games of first-rate quality and content. Bait Byout adopts congregative and participatory learning among its community members. Through role-playing and other games, Bait Byout aims to develop the life skills of individuals, particularly youth and children, as it seeks to equip young people to take more empowered and leading roles in their societies, whilst also shedding light on relevant cultural and societal issues. Bait Byout values:
• Inclusion: We promote accessibility, inclusion and social change because the arts in general and LARP, in particular, are fundamental to our community and can act as a catalyst for equity.
• Volunteerism: We value volunteerism across our community and all the communities that we reach out to and serve because volunteering can help strengthen communities, teach new skills, advance careers and have happier and healthier lives.
• Creativity: We value the purist of creative processes that alter lives and communities and inspire innovation for the general public good.
• Transparency and Accountability: We will act with integrity, professionalism, and transparency to ensure continued bonds of trust with and accountability to constituencies, donors, and partners.
• Safe Space for All: we pledge to keep BAIT BYOUT as a safe and non-judgmental space for all of our community members regardless of their backgrounds, choices and gender, a space where all feel included and accepted.
• Empowerment: we pledge to use our artistic programs to empower the members of our communities, especially Palestinian youth and children and to strengthen social responsibility as individuals and as an organization.
• Knowledge: we believe in learning and knowledge transfer among the different members of our community.
• Palestinian National Aspirations: we will continue to work collectively with other civil society organizations to put an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine and to program and work following the Palestinian national aspiration towards freedom and justice. Promote the Art of Gaming: to promote the art of gaming (LARP and Board Games in Palestine)
2. Empower and Support Youth: to empower Palestinian youth with skills, and knowledge for self-expression, development, production and growth and to increase their contribution to the development of their different communities.
3. Advance Dialogue and Exchange: to better position Bait Byout within the Palestinian community and across the Arab Region and to further expand and strengthen Bait Byout’s’ international partnerships.
4. Invest in Bait Byout the Institution: to strengthen the organizational structure and administrative capacities of Bait Byout to diligently, effectively and efficiently carry out its different programs and activities.
5. Income Generating Modality: to pilot a HYBRID modality of sustainability through income generation, resource mobilization and fundraising. LARP is an abbreviation for (Live Action Role Playing), a form of role-playing game where the participants physically act out their characters' actions. The players pursue goals within a fictional setting represented by the real world while interacting with each other in character. The outcome of player actions may be mediated by game rules or by consensus among players. LARP is collaborative and interactive community art that allows the participants to plunge themselves fully into different worlds or universes. With an array of costumes, props and scenography, this setting becomes the backdrop for a unique and astounding experience. We use LARP as a participatory tool to tell stories and present different subjects while allowing everyone to be any fictional character. We believe in the possibility to use LARP as an interactive tool to encourage dialogue and learning by providing an appropriate environment that allows all participants to develop their abilities in communication, discussion and decision-making and to address social and political issues.

When LARP is a tool for wellbeing.
Bait Byout, as part of the LARPing 4 Wellbeing project, worked with six partner countries during the initial phase of international training. This phase focused on utilising Live Action Role-Playing (LARP) as a creative youth work tool to foster resilience, develop social and emotional skills, and encourage self-expression through immersive, experiential learning. The training was held in Bușteni, Romania, from June 18 to 26, 2026.
After days of role-play, reflection, and co-creation, we identified new methods to design impactful learning experiences centred on young people. This training marks the project's initial milestone, and we are eager to start implementing these experiences in Palestine.

Riad Mustafa: Bait Byout member and volunteer:
27.06.2026

I was excited to be part of this international training as one of the facilitators, exploring how Live Action Role Playing (LARP) can be used in youth work to foster emotional well-being, resilience, empathy, and self-expression.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Bait Byout for giving me the opportunity to be part of this project as a facilitator and trainer. It has been a privilege to contribute to such a meaningful initiative and to work alongside an inspiring international team.

I am especially happy to see LARP being introduced to Lebanon and Tunisia, and I’m looking forward to the next step—supporting participants from Syria through individual online sessions, preparing them to join the LARP Design Training at the beginning of next year. Expanding these opportunities to more young people and youth workers across the region makes this project even more meaningful.

Over the course of eight working days, we worked with youth workers and educators from different countries to explore innovative, experiential learning methods that empower young people, especially those with fewer opportunities.

The training took place in the beautiful Gura Diham, nestled in the breathtaking Bucegi Natural Park, surrounded by stunning mountain landscapes. The program was intensive, with daily sessions from 09:30 to 19:00, balanced with reflection, learning, and valuable opportunities to connect during the free evenings.

It was an inspiring experience filled with learning, sharing, collaboration, and creating meaningful impact together. I look forward to seeing how the participants bring these methods into their communities and continue spreading the power of LARP in youth work. ART Fusion

I was proud to represent Bait Byout Organization – Palestine during the international study visit in Gaziantep, Türkiye (3–6 February 2026).

Youth work professionals from Türkiye, Austria, Kosovo, Jordan, Croatia, Serbia, Poland, Tunisia, Norway, and Palestine gathered to exchange experiences and explore innovative approaches in youth engagement.

We visited Youth Centers of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, participated in a mosaic workshop with local young people, and joined a culinary arts session that demonstrated the power of non-formal learning through teamwork.

Key reflections:
• Creative participation as a method in youth work
• Inclusion and accessibility for disadvantaged and migrant youth
• Art and culture as tools for dialogue in post-conflict and migration contexts
• Skill development through practical, hands-on activities

The visit strengthened international partnerships and reinforced the importance of collaboration in empowering young people across borders.

Bait Byout members talk about their international experiences:
Tamara Nassar, a staff member and GA member of Bait Byout, participated in the LARP Alchemy training program organised by Nausika.

"I took part in the LARP ALCHEMY #7 training course, The Mechanics of Magic, held from 8–14 April 2026 in Rabka-Zdrój, Poland, and it was a deeply enriching experience. The course offered a range of new tools and methods for designing and implementing “magic” in LARP, both as a mechanic and as an atmospheric element, pushing my thinking as a game designer. Beyond the learning, what made it truly special were the connections formed with fellow designers from different backgrounds, the friendships that grew naturally through shared creativity, and the many engaging conversations that challenged and inspired me. It was a meaningful and energising space that will continue to influence my work."
