Some of the most important lessons about community transformation aren't learned in a classroom. They're learned through relationships, shared experiences, and the wisdom of those doing the work every day.
Last week, Urban Strategies team members and partners gathered in Richmond, Virginia, for the Christian Community Development Association (CCDA) Conference, a gathering that continues to shape and inspire our approach to serving communities.
CCDA's principles helped influence the vision of our founder, Lisa Cummins, and continue to resonate throughout our work today. From authentic relationships and servant leadership to intentional compassion, these values remind us that lasting change happens when we walk alongside communities with humility, trust, and a long-term commitment to their flourishing.
Throughout the conference, we learned from leaders, practitioners, and community voices from across the country. Their stories challenged us to think more deeply, listen more closely, and remain committed to building stronger pathways of opportunity for children, families, and communities.
We return energized by the reminder that meaningful transformation is not accomplished alone. It is built through partnerships, shared learning, and the collective effort of people committed to creating a better future.
