Position: Authentic Cruise and Research Experiences for Underrepresented Students (ACREUS)

Description:
“Join a team of researchers on a multi-day cruise exploring the oceans, testing new ocean instrumentation, and/or collecting oceanographic data.
Students will first participate in a paid, week-long workshop at the Narragansett Bay Campus from June 11 to June 17. This will prepare them for shipboard research, and allow them to meet research partners and mentors. Next, a cohort of 2-4 students will participate in a cruise as part of the shipboard research team. These cruises will range from 4-5 days off the New England Coast to multi-week cruises in the Atlantic or Pacific Oceans or the Gulf of Mexico.
After completing the workshop, students will work with program advisors and cruise mentors to identify research roles and responsibilities for the cruise. Participants will also be asked to complete assessment surveys and provide a brief report on their cruise and program experience.
Requirements:
- Students seeking Associate or Bachelor degrees.
- Preferably, students from underrepresented groups in STEM fields.”
