Meet Winky 💔
Winky was recently rescued by Save a Gato volunteers from the Caribe Hilton after we began receiving messages from hotel guests who were deeply concerned about him.
Many people believed Winky was blind…
but the reality is even more heartbreaking.
Winky was born without eyelids.
Without eyelids, his eye is constantly exposed, no protection, no moisture, no relief. Imagine living every second of your life with something irritating your eye, like if you had sand in your eyes constantly and can't remove it, well… that’s Winky’s reality.
Despite this, he survived on the streets.
Quiet, resilient, and in pain.
Now that we finally have him safe, we took him to the vet and confirmed what we feared: 👉 His condition is causing ongoing discomfort and puts him at risk of serious infection.
🏥 What Winky needs
The most humane option for Winky is surgery to remove the affected eye, which will:
Eliminate his pain
Prevent future infections
Give him a real chance at a comfortable life. The good news?
Cats adapt incredibly well with one eye. Winky can still live a happy, safe life, but he needs our help to get there.

Winky nació sin párpados.
Sin párpados, su ojito está constantemente expuesto, sin protección, sin humedad, sin descanso. Imaginen vivir todos los días con el ojo irritado, como si tuvieras arena, y no te la pudieras remover… esa es la vida de Winky.
Aun así, sobrevivió en la calle.
Callado, fuerte… y con dolor.
Ahora que por fin está a salvo, lo llevamos al veterinario y confirmamos que:
👉 Su condición le causa molestia constante y puede empeorar con infecciones serias.
🏥 ¿Qué necesita Winky?
La opción más humana para Winky es una cirugía para remover el ojito afectado, lo cual:
Eliminará el dolor
Evitará infecciones futuras
Le dará una mejor calidad de vida
La buena noticia es que los gatos se adaptan increíblemente bien con un solo ojo. Winky puede tener una vida feliz, pero necesita nuestra ayuda.
