*** IT'S BEEN A SAD AND COMPLICATED DAY ***
Everyone, meet Emma. Emma was left pregnant by her owners with her long time companion at the local shelter in Ponce. Her partner was adopted and Emma was left behind waiting for an opportunity to be adopted. Yesterday we were already planning to pull Emma out of the shelter today early in the morning so that she could receive the first veterinary care and so that she could give birth in a safe and stress-free environment. Sadly Emma gave birth at dawn and lost three of her babies. The two that remain alive are very delicate because they are premature and mom is not producing milk. They were taken to a veterinary clinic in Juana Diaz where all the routine tests were done and unfortunately the situation is very complicated. Emma is anemic, she tested positive for erlichia + anaplasma and has severe pneumonia. In the Xrays, 2 more babies were seen that she had not been able to give birth to, so a sonogram was made where it was confirmed that both are alive. Emma is on her way to an emergency clinic in San Juan where she will have a c-section and she will be hospitalized until stable. This whole mission was unexpected and involves a lot of money. We appeal to your kind hearts to help us move this family forward and please send the best vibes as this case is extremely complicated.
