We have received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of Prof. Charlotte Gooskens, a PIAST Fellow during the academic year 2020–2021.

Prof. Charlotte Gooskens was an Associate Professor of European Linguistics at the University of Groningen and an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of New England, Australia.

Her research focused on the perceptual and communicative effects of language variation, including language attitudes, speaker identity, and the mutual intelligibility of closely related languages.

We extend our sincere condolences to her husband and her family.
