🇵🇱 Poland School Attacks: Police Investigate Possible Online “Challenge” Amid Rumours of “Bloody Friday”

Following two alarming knife attacks involving teenagers in Polish schools on 7 and 8 October, concerns are growing among parents about the possibility of further violence.

On Wednesday, a 19-year-old allegedly attacked several people in Ostrołęka, while on Thursday, a 15-year-old reportedly attacked three people at a school near Wyszków, leaving a female school employee dead.

According to RMF24 and Polskie Radio, Polish police are investigating reports that the recent incidents may be connected to a disturbing online “challenge” encouraging violence. However, no connection between the attacks and any online challenge has been confirmed.

Meanwhile, rumours about a possible “Bloody Friday” on 9 October are circulating, raising concerns about further attacks. There is currently no verified evidence or official police confirmation of a coordinated attack planned for Friday.

Police have reportedly increased preventive patrols around schools across Poland.

Parents and students are encouraged to remain vigilant, follow official school and police communications, and report any specific threats rather than spread unverified rumours.

Goat Slaughter Case in Poland: Two Bangladeshis and One Indian Citizen Face Legal Proceedings

A case involving three foreign nationals in Wałbrzych, southwestern Poland, has attracted media attention after prosecutors requested conditional discontinuation of criminal proceedings related to the illegal slaughter of a goat.

According to reports by Polish media, including Gazeta Prawna (citing PAP), Wirtualna Polska and local TV Wałbrzych, the individuals involved were two Bangladeshi citizens and one Indian citizen.

What happened?

The incident reportedly occurred at the back of a restaurant premises that was undergoing renovation and was not operating at the time.

A witness noticed the incident and alerted the police, who arrived and detained the three men.

According to local reporting, the two Bangladeshi citizens admitted to slaughtering the goat, while the Indian citizen denied participating, explaining that he was Hindu and vegetarian.

The men reportedly explained that such practices were customary in their home countries and that they were unaware of the relevant Polish legal restrictions.

What action has the prosecution taken?

Rather than pursuing a full criminal trial, prosecutors have submitted an application for conditional discontinuation of proceedings.

According to Wirtualna Polska, prosecutors cited the relatively low social harmfulness of the offence and the costs associated with a full trial.

Conditional discontinuation does not mean the conduct was legal or that the accused have been acquitted. The final decision rests with the court.

At the time of reporting, the court had not yet issued a decision on the application.

Important clarification

Some initial media reports incorrectly identified the individuals as two Indians and one Bangladeshi. However, multiple other Polish outlets consistently reported two Bangladeshi citizens and one Indian citizen.

It is also important to distinguish between the reported actions of the two Bangladeshi citizens and the Indian citizen, who denied involvement in the slaughter.

Regardless of nationality or cultural background, everyone living in Poland is expected to respect Polish laws, including animal welfare regulations.
