🗓️ 8th International Conference “Social Boundaries of Work: The Meanings of Work in Organizational Contexts”, Łódź, 21-23 October 2026.
We are pleased to announce that submissions of thematic groups for the 8th edition of the International Conference “Social Boundaries of Work: The Meanings of Work in Organizational Contexts” are now open.
Conference focus
The 2026 edition centers on the meanings of work in organizational contexts.
The world of work is currently facing overlapping global crises transforming labour markets worldwide. At the same time, digitalization, AI, platformisation, hybrid work models, unpaid work, and emerging organizational forms (including teal organizations) are redefining boundaries between work and non-work, employment and self-employment, autonomy and surveillance. These profound changes raise urgent questions about inequalities, risks, mental health, participation, and power relations across organizations.
We invite thematic group proposals addressing these transformations and their consequences for different categories of workers, including those differentiated by class, gender, age, ethnicity, migration status, place of residence, or organisational embeddedness.
Proposals for thematic groups should be sent at [email protected]. Each proposal should include: the names, affiliations, and email addresses of the group organizers, the title of the group, an abstract (300-500 words).
We look forward to your contributions and to building together an interdisciplinary dialogue on the changing boundaries and meanings of work.
The conference is organised by the Department of Sociology of Organization and Management, Institute of Sociology, Faculty of Economics and Sociology at the University of Łódź, together with the Section of Sociology of Work (Polish Sociological Association), Section of Qualitative Sociology and Symbolic Interactionism (Polish Sociological Association), Łódź Branch of the Polish Sociological Association, ISA Research Committee 44 “Labor Movement”, and the Critical Labor Studies Network.

🗓️ VIII Międzynarodowa Konferencja „Społeczne granice pracy: znaczenie pracy w kontekście organizacyjnym”, Łódź, 21-23 października 2026 r.
Z przyjemnością informujemy, że rozpoczęliśmy przyjmowanie zgłoszeń grup tematycznych do 8. edycji międzynarodowej konferencji „Społeczne granice pracy: znaczenie pracy w kontekście organizacyjnym”.
Edycja 2026 skupia się na znaczeniu pracy w kontekście organizacyjnym.
Świat pracy boryka się z nakładającymi się na siebie globalnymi kryzysami, które zmieniają świat pracy. Cyfryzacja, sztuczna inteligencja, platformizacja, hybrydowe modele pracy, praca nieodpłatna i nowe formy organizacyjne takie jak organizacje turkusowe na nowo definiują granice między pracą a niepracą, zatrudnieniem a samozatrudnieniem, autonomią a nadzorem. Te głębokie zmiany rodzą pilne pytania dotyczące nierówności, ryzyka, zdrowia psychicznego, uczestnictwa i relacji władzy w organizacjach.
Zapraszamy do zgłaszania propozycji grup tematycznych zajmujących się tymi przemianami i ich konsekwencjami dla różnych kategorii pracowników: zróżnicowanych pod względem klasy, płci, wieku, pochodzenia etnicznego, statusu migracyjnego czy miejsca zamieszkania.
Propozycje należy przesyłać na adres [email protected]. Każda propozycja powinna zawierać: imiona i nazwiska, afiliacje oraz adresy e-mail organizatorów grupy, tytuł grupy, abstrakt (300–500 słów). Termin: 15 grudnia 2024 r.
