See you at the European Forum Alpbach (EFA) in just one week! In the meantime, we’re delighted to introduce the last of this year’s Scholars joining us in the beautiful Austrian Alps!

Meet Łucja Skolankiewicz! She recently earned a Master of Philosophy in Russian and East European Studies from the The University of Oxford.

Her research focuses on Russian nuclear deterrence and foreign policy.

Alongside her academic work, she gained practical experience at Ośrodek Studiów Wschodnich (Centre for Eastern Studies) in Warsaw, where she interned in 2024.

Following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, she worked as a field producer covering the humanitarian crisis along the Polish–Ukrainian border, supporting reporting for major international media outlets.

Meet Zuza, who will soon be joining us at the European Forum Alpbach!

Zuzanna is currently working towards a Master's degree in Computer Engineering at New York University, where she focuses on AI applications in healthcare and (bio)entrepreneurship.

She obtained her undergraduate degree from New York University Abu Dhabi and has worked on numerous research projects, including cancer diagnostics using machine learning at ICGEB in New Delhi, an aptamer-based Alzheimer's detection tool through iGEM, and published work on microfluidic diagnostics.

On the business side, she gained experience in strategic consulting across pharma, insurance, and telecoms, as well as global banking and markets.

Zuzanna is interested in translating cutting-edge research into real-world business and healthcare solutions. She currently works as a Startup Analyst at NYU Stern's Endless Frontier Labs, where she sources and evaluates early-stage AI and deep tech ventures.

Ready to meet another Club Alpbach Poland Scholar?

Meet Paweł Świątkowski, who works at the Embassy of Poland in London as a locally engaged Economic Expert.

He is a graduate of the University of Oxford and the University of Manchester, with interests in emerging technologies, the political economy of growth and innovation, and the philosophy of nationalism.

Meet Amelia Kudasik, who will be joining us at the European Forum Alpbach this year!

Amelia is a Law student at Durham University. She has completed courses at Yale Law School and Harvard Law School, and her paper on access to clean water in East Africa was recognised at the Harvard Global Health and Leadership Conference.

She has authored academic articles, and is building practical experience through programmes at firms such as Davis Polk. In the aftermath of the invasion of Ukraine, she founded Edu(po)moc, a project that has helped displaced students keep their education on track.

As a volunteer she supports young people and is working on a project to help care leavers make the transition to independent life. Amelia pairs a commitment to social causes with a legal path she has built with deliberation.

We’re continuing with good news! Meet another person joining the Club Alpbach Poland Scholars this year!

Anna Kowal s a final-year Master's student of political science at Universiteit Leiden. She is a research assistant at the CareCentury research project, a public affairs intern at Veolia Energia Polska, and an author at the “Liberte!” magazine.

During her studies, she interned at the Chancellery of the Polish Senate and served as a board member of the CIROS student organisation. As a co-organiser of the XVIII and XIX editions of the International Congress of Polish Student Societies, she was responsible for planning panel discussions about politics, culture, society, and economics.

Beyond political science, she enjoys insightful conversations, contemporary art (especially Polish), exploring cuisines of the world, and hiking.

Are you ready to meet another Club Alpbach Poland 2026 Scholar?

Meet Marek Świątek, a student at Imperial College London and a Cum Laude graduate from the University of Amsterdam.

He is the founder of global_polish_society, an international organization connecting ambitious Polish students studying at leading universities around the world. Previously, he served as President of the Polish Society Amsterdam and founded the Federation of Polish Student Societies in the Netherlands.

Professionally, Marek has experience in both strategic consulting and the startup ecosystem. He has worked at two startups and co-founded his own venture, which has grown to more than 15,000 users.

Through mentoring, he supports students interested in studying abroad, navigating university applications, exploring career opportunities, and making the most of their international academic experience.

It’s time to meet another talented young person who will be joining us at the European Forum Alpbach this August!

Originally from Georgia and now based in Warsaw, Elene Kintsurashvili is a Senior Program Coordinator at the German Marshall Fund of the United States.

Elene’s academic and professional journey has taken her across Georgia, the United States, and Poland. She participated in the U.S. Department of State’s Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Program and later earned a master’s degree from the of Europe, specializing in the EU and its Neighbours, with a focus on the Eastern Partnership.

Her current work focuses on how authoritarian actors undermine democratic institutions and how societies resist democratic backsliding and build resilience in response. She regularly publishes and comments on issues related to democracy, security, and Europe’s eastern neighbourhood. Alongside her professional work, she remains actively involved in civic initiatives supporting democracy and Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

The European Forum Alpbach is getting closer, so it’s time to meet another Scholar who will be joining us this year!

Jan Minksztym holds a master’s degree in international law from the University of Geneva and the Geneva Graduate Institute. He also graduated from the Interdisciplinary Individual Studies College (Law, International Relations, and Business) at AMU Poznań and studied at European University Viadrina.

Currently a Specialist in the Strategy & Innovation Area at ORLEN S.A., his professional experience includes roles at Clifford Chance, the Permanent Mission of Poland to the UN, and the International Commission of Jurists. Following the outbreak of the full-scale war, he coordinated humanitarian aid efforts on the Polish-Ukrainian border and in Ukraine.

Jan is also an active scouting instructor and a mentor at the Our Future Foundation.

We are very excited about our cooperation, Jan! ✨
