☀️ Spring is in full swing! The team from the Department of Meteorology and Climatology at the Uniwersytet Łódzki carried out intensive spring maintenance at the greenhouse gas flux measurement 🌍💨site in Kopytkowo, located in Biebrzański Park Narodowy. Greenhouse gas fluxes are measured using the eddy covariance method, which allows for the direct determination of net gas exchange between the ecosystem and the atmosphere 🌱↔️☁️. This approach relies on high-frequency measurements of wind velocity and gas concentrations, analyzing their covariance over time to capture real ecosystem processes with high temporal resolution.
The site in Kopytkowo has been operating since 2012 and provides a valuable long-term reference dataset for wetlands functioning under natural or near-natural conditions.
We were accompanied by storks and the calls of cranes 🐦🎶!
