Performance Art Foundation started its activity in November 2010 in Lublin/ Poland from the initiative of art historians, curators and artists. Our mission is to continue and develop the activity of The Performance Art Centre in The Centre for Culture in Lublin (1999-2010), the only one institution in Poland that used to be focused on the promotion of performance art. We sustain and carry out the
vision of the founder and the head of The Performance Art Centre Waldemar Tatarczuk, who patronises our activity. He has been gathering the documentation of the performance art practices from both Polish and foreign artists, he has been also participating and organizing international festivals for many years. He has been carring out the Open Archive project at the turn of the 2009 and 2010 together with Marta Ryczkowska, Tomasz Majerski, Paulina Kempisty, Marta Bosowska, Iga Gosiewska. The Open Archive is the first digital database of the performance art in Poland. The idea came from the need of describing and commemorating Polish performance artists’ share in this area of art in terms of the art world. We strongly believe that Polish performance art requires conscientious studies and interests from the historians and art critics. Open Archive opened the possibility of converging and sharing the information about performance art in one virtual and viably existed space. It is a starting point to further studies on performance art history and the observing and commenting the process of evolution of this field of art. The performance art is our main but not only area of interests and practices. We has been curiously observing constant process of fading away the borders between artistic genres and their changing and fluctuating shapes. We has been carring out the studies and discussion over the interdisciplinary nature of art and showing the most interesting phenomena. We concentrate not only on the area of Poland but also different countries. We are committed to alternative and progressive art practices engaging interesting themes, social problems and different kinds of the contemporary visual culture.

Fundacja Sztuki Performance rozpoczęła swoją działalność w Lublinie w listopadzie 2010 roku z inicjatywy historyków sztuki, kuratorów i artystów. Naszym głównym celem jest kontynuacja i rozwijanie działalności Ośrodka Sztuki Performance w Centrum Kultury w Lublinie (1999-2010), jedynej instytucji w Polsce skierowanej na promowanie i popularyzację sztuki performance. Założycielem i dyrektorem OSP był Waldemar Tatarczuk, który patronuje naszej aktualnej działalności. Od ponad dwunastu lat pozyskuje dokumentacje sztuki performance od artystów z Polski i zagranicy, ponadto uczestniczy i organizuje międzynarodowe festiwale. Na przełomie 2009 i 2010 wspólnie z Martą Ryczkowską, Tomaszem Majerskim, Pauliną Kempisty, Martą Bosowską, Igą Gosiewską realizował projekt Otwarte Archiwum będący pierwsza cyfrową bazą sztuki performance w Polsce. Ponad 40-letnia historia polskiej sztuki performance oraz wkład polskich artystów w rozwój tej dziedziny w kontekście sztuki światowej zasługuje i wymaga sumiennego opracowania oraz zainteresowania ze strony historyków i krytyków sztuki. Otwarte Archiwum stworzyło możliwość skupienia i udostępnienia informacji o sztuce performance w jednym wirtualnym i realnie istniejącym miejscu. Stanowi ono punkt wyjścia do dalszego opracowania historii sztuki performance oraz obserwowania i komentowania procesu ewolucji tej dziedziny sztuki. Sztuka performance jest głównym, choć nie jedynym obszarem naszych zainteresowań i działania. Z zainteresowaniem przyglądamy się, w jaki sposób zacierają się granice pomiędzy gatunkami sztuki współczesnej, jak bardzo są one płynne i zmienne. W swoich działaniach pragniemy obserwować i poddawać dyskusji interdyscyplinarność sztuki, pokazywać najciekawsze jej przejawy. Interesują nas działania niszowe, progresywne, podejmujące ciekawe wątki, wchodzące w obszar społeczny, angażujące rozmaite obszary współczesnej kultury wizualnej.
