Once again, we would like to thank everyone who joined us and helped create such a wonderful, friendly atmosphere. It was truly a special time, and we are very happy to see these memories featured in the AKIHO Bulletin. 🍀

Happy to introduce 𝙋𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙫𝙖𝙣 𝙙𝙚𝙧 𝙇𝙪𝙜𝙩

Vice President – AKIHO Europe（ヨーロッパクラブ）

Peter van der Lugt has been involved with the Akita Inu since 2009 and has since been active as a breeder, exhibitor and researcher, with a particular interest in the history, preservation, bloodlines and evaluation of the breed.

Over the years, he has participated in numerous AKIHO exhibitions throughout Europe and Japan and regularly visits Japan to further his understanding of the breed, its history and the traditions of AKIHO. He has attended the AKIHO Honbuten (Headquarters Exhibition) on multiple occasions, where he has had the opportunity to learn from experienced Japanese judges, breeders and long-standing AKIHO members.

Since 2018, Peter has served as Vice President of AKIHO Europe（ヨーロッパクラブ） and is actively involved in the organisation and development of AKIHO activities throughout Europe. His work includes exhibition organisation, educational initiatives, international communication and cooperation with AKIHO Headquarters in Japan.

He also serves as an AKIHO Shinsa Hojo, appointed by AKIHO Headquarters, and has assisted Japanese judges at both European AKIHO exhibitions and the AKIHO Honbuten (Headquarters Exhibition) in Japan. Through these experiences, he continues to deepen his practical understanding of AKIHO judging procedures and traditions.

Peter is the author of AKIHO Honbuten – Definitive Edition, a book dedicated to the history, development and significance of the AKIHO Honbuten (Headquarters Exhibition). The publication features a foreword by Takashi Endou, together with interviews with Takashi Endou and Akira Saitou, offering unique insights into the AKIHO Honbuten, the evaluation of the Akita Inu and the traditions surrounding the breed.

He also contributes to the development of digital tools designed to support AKIHO exhibitions while respecting the organisation’s traditions and judging procedures.

AKIHO Friendship Day is an educational and promotional event dedicated to the Akita Inu and the traditional AKIHO way of presentation.

The idea of the event is to bring together AKIHO members, Akita enthusiasts and newcomers who wish to better understand the spirit, handling style and judging principles of Akita Inu Hozonkai.
Through a friendly show held with respect for AKIHO rules and traditions, participants will have the opportunity to gain experience, practise handling and learn more about the traditional way of presenting the Akita Inu.

The event is intended both for experienced owners who already present their dogs in the AKIHO spirit, and for those who are just beginning their journey and would like to discover this unique style and tradition.
