🎵 Thank You for the Beautiful Musical Journey at the SIE Congress! 🎵

The 22nd Soroptimist International of Europe Congress in Kraków was not only full of inspiring conversations and powerful ideas — it was also filled with extraordinary music that touched our hearts. 💛

We were honoured to begin our musical journey with Frédéric Chopin, performed by the talented pianist Małgorzata Kurleto.

Then came a truly moving moment when the iconic “We Are the World” by Michael Jackson echoed through the venue — beautifully sung by:

All of them are gifted students of the State Secondary School of Music in Kraków ( Ogólnokształcąca Szkoła Muzyczna im. F. Chopina), under the direction of mgr Elżbieta Marczyk. 👏

🎼 Thank you for your wonderful cooperation — we were truly moved by your talent and professionalism. Your performance made the Congress unforgettable!

A deeply emotional moment came during the concert at St. Mary’s Church, where:

🎶 Maria Babicz-Korczak’s soprano soared to the heavens
🎶 And organist Michał Piechnik amazed us with the power of Kraków’s historic pipe organs.

They performed:

🟡🔵 Breakout Session #3 >> "Sustainable cities - Paving the Way for Inclusive, Resilient Urban Futures

👉 Molto seguita anche la sessione moderata dalla nostra Margherita Poles con speakers la giovane socia italiana Alice Paola Pomè insieme a Katarzyna Iwinska ed Elizabeth Doherty.

👉Sono stati analizzati gli aspetti di rilievo per le città sostenibili del futuro, in particolare la transizione energetica. E la conseguente elettrificazione dei diversi sistemi urbani, gli aspetti di benessere e inclusione urbana, il ruolo dell’educazione e la stesura di politiche che prendano in considerazione gli aspetti rilevanti della cittadinanza.

👉Saranno le tecnologie digitali a permettere questa necessaria trasformazione, definita a livello europeo “digital transition”, connubio tra trasformazione digitale e verde.

👉Le relatrici hanno portato alcuni esempi pratici, come l’esperienza della “Città dei 15 Minuti”, in particolare di Parigi e Barcellona, nonché il progetto “La Città che vorrei” dell’Unione italiana come best practice di progettualità che unisce associazioni, pubblica amministrazione e cittadinanza.

👉Tecnologie digitali + integrazione delle analisi di impatto sociale +collaborazione tra i diversi stakeholder: sono l’ unico percorso possibile per un futuro resiliente delle città.

Tijdens het SIE Congress in Krakow volgden we een indrukwekkende en zeer leerzame break-outsessie over “Facing Cyberviolence in the Age of AI: Women’s Voices Under Threat”.
De Poolse juristen Sylwia Spurek (werkt al 25 jaar rondom het thema van gendergerelateerd geweld) en Olga Jurasz (van Centre for Protecting Women online) deelden hun expertise over hoe online geweld vrouwen wereldwijd treft — en hoe wetgeving tegen veel vormen van cybergeweld nog ver achterloopt.

Wist je bijvoorbeeld dat er meer dan 35.000 AI-tools voor het maken van deepfake-seksuele beelden zijn en dat die in slechts drie jaar 15 miljoen keer zijn gedownload? Het laat zien hoe urgent actie is.

Soroptimisten blijven zich inzetten voor beleid en bewustwording om vrouwen ook online te beschermen. Help ons en sluit je aan bij een van onze ruim 1100 Soroptimistclubs in Europa!
