Pafos jest jednym z najważniejszych stanowisk archeologicznych na Cyprze, a jego zabytki zostały wpisane na listę UNESCO światowego dziedzictwa kulturowego. Od 2011 roku na jego agorze badania prowadzi Zakład Archeologii Klasycznej Instytutu Archeologii Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego, a pracami ekspedycji kieruje prof. dr hab. Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka. zie koncesji udzielanej corocznie przez Departament Starożytności Cypryjskich. W latach 2011-2014 projekt był finansowany z grantu OPUS Narodowego Centrum Nauki (nr 2011/01/ B/HS 3/01282). Jego celem było odnalezienie hellenistycznej agory stolicy wyspy, która znajdowała się przypuszczalnie pod rzymską. W roku 2015, wraz z nowym grantem NCN MAESTRO (nr 2014/14/A/HS 3/00283), projekt wszedł w nowy etap realizacji, którego celem jest zbadanie i rekonstrukcja przestrzeni publicznej agory oraz infrastruktury i działalności ekonomicznej miasta z zastosowaniem metod interdyscyplinarnych. Paphos is one of the most important archaeological sites in Cyprus. Ancient remains of the city are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Since 2011 the team of Prof. Ewdoksia Papuci-Władyka from the Department of the Classical Archaeology of the Jagiellonian University Institute of Archaeology has been exploring the agora of Nea Paphos within the Paphos Agora Project. The works are conducted according to the license granted by the Department of Antiquities Cyprus. In 2011-2014, the project was funded by a grant from the National Science Centre OPUS (No. 2011/01 / B / HS 3/01282). The main objective of the project is to search for the Hellenistic agora of the island's capital, probably hidden under the remains of the Roman one. In 2015, with a new grant from the National Science Centre MAESTRO (No. 2014/14/A/HS 3/00283), the new phase of the project has started: the aim is to explore and reconstruct the public space of the agora and infrastructure and economic activity of the city using interdisciplinary methods.
