Dogs, as well as other animal species, have such big, innocent hearts. Yet, every day we hear stories of their abuse. From the brutal murder of a community dog Orelha by foreign adolescents in Brazil, to mass culling of dogs in Morocco in preparation for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, to negligence and animal abuse in many Polish “patoshelters” in preference of personal financial gain, the injustice continues.

These are just three of many other stories we are currently following, while working behind the scenes on volunteering with animals and planning to launch support for animal rescue and animal well-being causes on a bigger scale.

As we celebrate love today, let’s remember our four-legged friends, whose love for us never fades! ❤️

CAT SHELTERS IN ODESSA NEED URGENT SUPPORT! 🙀💔

This shelter takes care of 500 cats living together in a small area. There are some dogs living outside as well. Many of these cats have been abandoned by their fleeing owners and rescued from the streets where they had slim chances of survival. 😿😾

As soon as we saw these photos we knew we had to help. We’ve connected with a group of volunteers from Poland organizing a delivery of food and supplies to Odessa, mainly to the large shelter. 🚚🚐

We would also love to bring in and re-home some of these kitties and are looking for permanent and foster homes in Poland and the neighboring countries. Please let us know if you could provide one. 😻🏡

🇵🇱 Szukamy pilnie domu tymczasowego na 4-6 tygodni w Warszawie dla tego bezdomnego psiaka z Ukrainy, który został zaadoptowany w USA. Maluch jest łagodny, chodzi na smyczy i jest przyjazny dla innych psów, ale niekoniecznie dla kotów. Dom jest potrzebny jak naszybciej, od 16 stycznia. Psiak ma szansę na dobre życie w Stanach jeżeli tylko znajdzie miejsce tymczasowe. Pomóżmy mu! 💙

🇬🇧 We are looking for a foster home in Warsaw for 4-6 weeks for this homeless dog from Ukraine. He’s been adopted in the US and has a chance for a great life if we can find him a foster. He is gentle, walks on the leash, and is friendly with other dogs, but not necessarily with cats. Foster is needed urgently, possibly from January 16. Please help! 💛

Last year I had a hands-on experience opportunity at a cat sanctuary in Greece and have learned a lot about cats.

Having studied business administration, marketing, journalism, and sustainability, I worked in the private and corporate sectors for over 20 years. That’s until last year when I decided to change the direction of my life and do what I love the most—work on causes that matter.

As it often happens, soon after I made up my mind, quit my corporate job, and began building my own nonprofit, an opportunity at an animal sanctuary presented itself. And even if it was a short-term experience, it confirmed the righteousness of my choice.

As challenging as it sometimes is, working in the nonprofit sector is a meaningful, fulfilling, impactful, and life-changing experience. I couldn’t be happier that I made that choice.

My name is Ivona and I am the founder of SLOWer fund. I look forward to connecting with like-minded entities and continue making a positive impact in the lives of people and animals together.

GREEK STRAYS! 🐈🐈‍⬛ Images like these are unfortunately a daily reality in Greece. 🥲

Having spent some time in the country last year, we witnessed the living conditions of stray cats in various areas and became quite unsettled by the sights. While we’ve encountered some cat colonies being taken good care of by local people and organizations, numerous don't get proper attention.

Living in the streets, alleys, parks, and garbage dumpster areas, many stray cats suffer from malnutrition, disease, and other dangers. Many are unsterilized, reproducing freely and perpetuating the problem, especially in small towns and remote rural areas. The issue is so widespread it’s overwhelming.

Stray cats can have a relatively good life when living in well-managed, sterilized colonies with access to sheltered areas and feeding stations, however.

With that in mind, we are committed to improving their welfare and controlling their populations. To accomplish that goal, we focus on organizing feeding and TNR (Trap-Neuter-Release) projects and work with local organizations to deliver help where needed.

Thank you to everyone who has recently donated and helped us to deliver some dry cat food to this elderly lady in Kherson who feeds over 30 cats every day from her small retirement pension.

The delivery was possible thanks to another local lady who not only feeds over 80 stray dogs every day by herself, but also supports other people and the animals under their care.

Again, we are grateful for your support and happy we were able to help this lady caring for the homeless animals in such hard times. 🇺🇦✌️

These two ladies have been tirelessly feeding abandoned and stray animals in Kherson since the beginning of occupation. The lady on the left, cares for 83 dogs and 11 cats, while the elderly lady on the right feeds 30 cats from her retirement pension. There are many puppies and kittens there as well. 🐶🐱😍

The prices of food in Kherson are high, foreign aid cannot get there, and both ladies rely mainly on donations to feed these animals as they have limited sources of income. 😰

To help them feed these animals, we are supporting them through food donations.

🆘 There is a growing crises of abandoned stray animals in Ukraine and the problem is getting worse with the addition of new puppies and kittens. Locals are feeding them with whatever they can buy and as often as they can, but as many don’t have employment or any sources of income, they can’t do it alone.
