The 3rd General Assembly of the ISABEL Horizon was successfully implemented in 📍 Katowice, Poland.

🙌 Over two days, the meeting focused on key technical and research progress, with emphasis on the ISABEL Horizon platform and the development of AI-driven tools, including data lakes, crawlers, and advanced analytics solutions.

💡 These technologies support ISABEL Horizon’s goal of addressing the uneven impacts of the green and digital ( a.k.a twin) transition across European labour markets through data-driven and fair reskilling strategies.

Progress across all Work Packages was also discussed, highlighting the ongoing collaboration within the consortium.

The ISABEL project successfully held the kick-off meeting of its Living Lab on labour market transformation in Western Macedonia, organised by the University of Western Macedonia in collaboration with the Regional Development Fund of Western Macedonia.

The meeting brought together regional stakeholders, researchers and policy actors to discuss the major transformations shaping labour markets, including the green transition, digitalisation and technological change, and their impact on job creation and job destruction across regions and social groups.

Participants exchanged insights on:
• key challenges and opportunities for Western Macedonia,
• the importance of stakeholder participation in shaping policy responses, and
• innovative tools developed by the ISABEL project, such as the FAROROMO Observatory, which will support the analysis of the labour market impacts of the just green transition at the regional level.

The active participation of regional actors highlighted the importance of collaboration between research, policy and society in designing effective solutions for a fair and sustainable labour market future.

The ISABEL team is expanding its efforts to conceptualise job creation and destruction in the context of the green and digital transition, with citizen engagement. Today, Nikos Kapitsinis delivered an invited lecture at the University of Copenhagen explaining ISABEL insights into the main concepts of regional labour market transformation in the context of the green and digital transition. This invited lecture was undertaken within the framework of citizen science activities, engaging the public in data collection and in reflecting on insights and interpretations, seeking to co-create knowledge and democratise the research process.

An excellent second co-creation workshop of the ISABEL project!

In the context of the 2025 Regional Studies Association Regional Futures Conference. ISABEL organised a co-creation workshop, sponsored by RSA, at The Cumberland Hotel in London. More than 45 attendants, in person and online, engaged with very fruitful discussions. The project team members presented insights on the conceptualisation of job creation and destruction in the context of the twin transition and on opportunities for harnessing AI and social sciences for evidence-based regional labour market analyses and policies. Then, a group of researchers and experts working on labour markets, AI, regional development, and the green and digital transitions discussee regional labour market transformations in the context of the potential synergies between social sciences and AI to study these transformations, seeking co-creation of knowledge and feedback exchange. Thanks a lot to everyone, stay tuned!

Debbie, Esteban, Jeisson and Nikos presented the initial insights that our project has generated. ISABEL team had a strong presence in the conference, spreading the word about the project and its research aims. Tomorrow is the second co-creation workshop in the context of the conference. Stay tuned!
