🎓 SPACES at the Silesian Science Festival!

On December 8, during the Silesian Science Festival in Katowice, the vice president of Agere Aude foundation, Małgorzata Grzonka-Marciniak, and Dr. Sabina Pawlik (US) presented the results of the Spaces project – Student’s path to self-awareness. Social competences in contemporary academia.

During their presentation, they talked about, among other things:
🔹 the importance of social competences in the academic environment,
🔹 the tools developed and research results,
🔹 educational solutions supporting dialogue and well-being at universities and schools.

We are proud that the results of our work were presented at one of the largest events promoting science in Poland 💛💙

📢 SPACES Project at the ICEQ 2025 conference!

During the fourth edition of the ICEQ – International Congress on Education Quality, we had the opportunity to disseminate the results of the SPACES project and share our experiences in the field of developing social competences in education.

This is an extremely important event that brings together experts, researchers, and education practitioners from all over Europe – a space for the exchange of knowledge, inspiration, and good practices.

During his presentation, Dr. Maciej Janowski presented a scale for measuring social competences, while Dr. Sabina Pawlik and Małgorzata Grzonka-Marciniak, MA, talked about solutions prepared for future teachers and a support course developed as part of the project.

📚 The second day of the conference in Alicante!
Today, the focus was on topics related to social and emotional competencies in education.

Maciej Janowski and Zuzanna Schneider from the University of Silesia kicked off the presentations by introducing the social competency scale and its application in academic research.
Next, Sabina Pawlik (University of Silesia) and Małgorzata Grzonka-Marciniak (Agere Aude Foundation) spoke about the importance of social competences in teacher training.

Finally, Teresa Pozo Rico (University of Alicante) gave a presentation on intercultural competences and emotional intelligence in international education.

☕ It was a day full of inspiring discussions and exchanges of experiences, which ended with a ceremony to award certificates to the conference participants.

🎓 The first day of the SPACES Conference at the University of Alicante

The first day of our international SPACES Conference took place at the Faculty of Education, University of Alicante (San Vicente Campus). The event brought together researchers, educators, and project partners from several European institutions to exchange experiences and ideas on social competences and their development in educational and professional contexts.

The day began with a welcome session and presentation of the activities by Marta Margiel (University of Silesia in Katowice), Teresa Pozo Rico (University of Alicante), and Katarzyna Sujkowska (University of Silesia in Katowice).

Morning presentations focused on key topics such as:

“Social competences and emotional intelligence” – Teresa Pozo Rico (University of Alicante),

“Literature and competences” – Professor Gianfranco Pecchinenda (University of Naples).

In the afternoon, sessions continued at the Rectorate Building with inspiring contributions from the partners:

“Project repository – how to use it and why it’s worth using it” – Szymon Witczak (Agere Aude Foundation) and Jolanta Klimczak (University of Silesia in Katowice), who presented the project’s website and explained how it supports access to research results and educational tools developed within the SPACES project.

“Why social skills are important and worth talking about” – Marco Navarra and Luigi Somma (Euniversity), together with Szymon Witczak (Agere Aude Foundation), who presented short films created as part of the project, illustrating different aspects of social competences in real-life contexts.

“Why does legal interpretation require social competences? Changing interpretations in today’s world” – Agnieszka Bielska-Brodziak (University of Silesia in Katowice).

After her presentation, Agnieszka Bielska-Brodziak also led an interactive workshop on mindfulness and well-being.

The day concluded with a lively discussion and a networking dinner in the centre of Alicante — a perfect ending to an inspiring day full of meaningful dialogue, reflection, and collaboration among international partners🌍.

🎓 The SPACES project at the Silesian Education Congress!

During the Silesian Education Congress, which took place on September 17–18, Prof. Katarzyna Sujkowska presented the principles of the SPACES project – Student’s Path to Self-Awareness.

In her speech entitled “Social competences in the context of inclusive language and emotional intelligence,” Prof. Sujkowska emphasized the importance of developing social skills in education and their impact on building an environment based on empathy, respect, and cooperation.

We are delighted that the results of the SPACES project are becoming part of a broad discussion on the future of education and key competences in the work of teachers and students.

🎓A course for teachers based on research from the SPACES project!📚

We are delighted to share the results of our course, which was developed based on reliable research conducted as part of the SPACES project 🧠. We wanted to provide teachers with real support in their daily work, both professionally and personally❤️.

💡What did the course participants learn?
During intensive but friendly meetings, teachers learned, among other things, to:
✅ take care of their mental and physical well-being 🧘‍♀️
✅ build supportive and trusting relationships with students 🤗
✅ how to communicate effectively and manage emotions in the classroom 🗣
✅ how to cope with stress and burnout 🔥➡️💧
✅ how to create a friendly, safe and inspiring learning environment ✨

📈 The results?
Huge interest and positive feedback! 💯 The first edition was a success – both in terms of the number of participants and the depth of change in their approach to working with students 💖.
Each participant also received microcredentials for the skills they acquired!

📢 The SECOND EDITION is coming soon!

Due to the huge interest, we are preparing the next edition of the course 🚀.

Three days of intense work on the SPACES project 💼, as well as experiencing the incredible culture and nature of Madeira 🌿🌺!

That’s how we spent March 19-21 during our international meeting at the University of Madeira 🎓.
In addition to discussing the progress of the project and planning the next steps 🔄, we had the opportunity to complete various training sessions, including:
