Albom PL, Białystok (2026)

Pod koniec 2015 roku przeprowadziliśmy projekt "Fotograficzne mikrohistorie z Grodzieńszczyzny". W październiku odbyły się w Białymstoku trzydniowe warsztaty. Przyjechało na nie 15 osób polskiego pochodzenia z Białorusi. Wspólnie je skanowaliśmy i opracowaliśmy. Cały uzyskany w ten sposób zbiór, liczący ponad 180 fotografii można zobaczyć na albom.pl, na fb zamieszczamy wybór i urywki opowieści. Projekt był współfinansowany ze środków finansowych otrzymanych z Ministerstwa Spraw Zagranicznych w ramach konkursu na realizację zadania "Współpraca z Polonią i Polakami za granicą w 2015 r". W maju 2015 rozpoczęliśmy digitalizację dorobku dwóch wiejskich fotografów z Podlasia. Licząca 600 negatywów kolekcja Jerzego Kostko z Kleszczel została wykopana na strychu starego domu podczas naszej fotograficznej wyprawy archeologicznej na polsko-białoruskie pogranicze w 2013 roku. Negatywy Jana Siwickiego z Jaczna (150 szklanych szybek) trafiły do nas później. Przekazał je jeden z sympatyków Stowarzyszenia Edukacji Kulturalnej WiDOK, który wiedział, że zrobimy z nich dobry użytek. Wkrótce wszystkie będzie można zobaczyć na stronie albom.pl. Projekt "Wiejscy fotografowie z Podlasia" realizowany jest dzięki dotacji Ministra Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego oraz Urzędu Marszałkowskiego Województwa Podlaskiego. Przez wakacje 2013 roku w ramach projektu "Fotograficzna wyprawa archeologiczna na polsko-białoruskie pogranicze" przeszperaliśmy prywatne „archiwa” wyłuskując ciekawe fotografie w siedmiu pogranicznych miejscowościach, dwóch po stronie polskiej: Kleszczelach i Gródku i pięciu po stronie białoruskiej: Wołkowysku, Sopoćkiniach, Łunnie, Wołpie, Kamieńcu. To co wyszperamy – zdjęcia, filmiki, wywiady - wrzuciliśmy na stronę www.albom.pl, Album pod tym samym tytułem, wydany w nakładzie 300 egzemplarzy rozdystrybuowaliśmy wśród osób i instytucji zajmujących się historią pogranicza. Projekt współfinansowany był przez Departament Dyplomacji Publicznej i Kulturalnej Ministerstwa Spraw Zagranicznych w ramach konkursu Wspólne działania polsko-białoruskie. Publikacja wyraża jedynie poglądy autorów i nie może być utożsamiana z oficjalnym stanowiskiem MSZ

From the “Dreams Come True” series…
In just a few hours, the doors will open.
Tomorrow, in the very heart of Auckland (154 Queen Street), the photographs of Bolesław Augustis will begin a new chapter of their journey — thousands of kilometres from Białystok, yet somehow still close to home. Even during the installation, the images already seem alive with memory, silence, light, and the presence of those who once stood before Augustis’s lens.
The exhibition “Bolesław Augustis: Two Homelands / Dwie ojczyzny”, presented as part of the Auckland Festival of Photography, will be on view from 27 May to 14 June. We warmly invite you to experience this extraordinary story of memory, identity, exile, and belonging.
Prepared by the Widok Cultural Education Association (Stowarzyszenie Edukacji Kulturalnej Widok) in partnership with the Sleńdziński Art Gallery (Galeria im. Sleńdzińskich w Białymstoku), the exhibition brings together the remarkable photographic legacy of Bolesław Augustis — a photographer whose life was shaped by two distant worlds and two homelands.
The project is co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland (Ministerstwo Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego) from the Cultural Promotion Fund — a special-purpose state fund — under the programme “Promotion of Polish Culture Abroad”.

From the series “Dreams Come True.”
In exactly one month, people in Auckland, New Zealand, will have the opportunity to view photographs by Bolesław Augustis, who lived there for nearly 46 years. Yet beyond his closest circle, almost no one knew that he was an exceptional photographer.
The exhibition Bolesław Augustis: Two Homelands / Dwie ojczyzny was prepared by the Widok Cultural Education Association (Stowarzyszenie Edukacji Kulturalnej Widok) in partnership with the Sleńdziński Art Gallery in Białystok (Galeria im. Sleńdzińskich w Białymstoku).

From the series “Dreams Come True.”
The reissue of the album “Augustis” was prepared with Bolesław’s exhibition at the Auckland Festival of Photography in mind. The project was made possible thanks to the support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage (Ministerstwo Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego), the Sleńdziński Art Gallery in Białystok (Galeria im. Bolesław Augustis na Festival of Photography!
Zaprezentujemy kadry z Białegostoku z lat 1935–1938 oraz fotografie z prywatnego archiwum rodziny w Nowej Zelandii z lat 1949–1995. Towarzyszyć temu będzie reedycja pierwszej książki (projekt: Ania Nałęcka-Milach / Tapir Book Design).
Otwarcie wystawy „Bolesław Augustis: Two Homelands / Dwie Ojczyzny” odbędzie się 27 maja 2026 roku w 154 Gallery przy Queen Street w Auckland. Uroczysty wernisaż zaplanowano na 28 maja o godz. 18:00.

We will present photographs from Białystok taken between 1935 and 1938, alongside images from a private family archive in New Zealand spanning the years 1949–1995. The project also includes a re-edition of the first book (designed by Ania Nałęcka-Milach / Tapir Book Design).
