Indus Resource Centre (IRC) is implementing a TVET project called “Enhancing Quality and Access to TVET for Employability (EQUATE)" with the funding of EU and support of Oxfam Novib in Khairpur district. Under this project, IRC has to get 1100 young men and women trained in vocational and technical skills so that they can be better employed and their income levels are enhanced. These young men and
women (matriculate or non-matriculate) are from the villages of Khairpur district. They are identified by our Social Mobilizers according to set criteria. The identified youth are brought to two Learning Resource Centre’s (LRCs), then educated in basic academic and non-academic skills for 8 week to be followed by career counseling services and training at then sends them to a recognized TVET institute for learning professional skills. The overall objective of the project is to Improvement of accessibility to TVET leading to professional employment of marginalized communities in rural areas of Sindh with 50 per cent more earnings compared to the baseline findings. The specific objectives of the project are,
(1) Improving accessibility and success rate of 1170 unemployed poor youth in district Khairpur of Sindh in TVET leading to with 50 per cent more earnings compared to the baseline findings. (2) Improving economic empowerment of 640 poor women in three target districts by enhancing handicraft, designing, production and entrepreneurial skills, and linkages development with potential national and international markets leading to 50 per cent more earnings compared to the baseline findings.
