Labor Day Celebrated with Brick Kiln Workers; Awareness Event on Workers’ Rights Held .!
Umerkot: On the occasion of International Labor Day, May 1st, a simple yet dignified event was organized with brick kiln workers by the Foundation for Sustainable Development & Innovation - FSDI, in collaboration with SPARC. The event aimed to raise awareness about workers’ rights, welfare, and well-being.
Addressing the gathering, SPARC’s District Coordinator Abdul Rehman Palli stated that workers are a vital pillar of any society’s development, especially those who earn their livelihood under harsh conditions in brick kilns, farms, or factories, and they deserve appreciation and recognition.
On this occasion, FSDI District Coordinator Manzoor Kunbhar said that providing basic facilities such as education, healthcare, and fair wages to workers associated with brick kilns and other labor-intensive sectors is a shared responsibility of both the state and society.
During the event, an open discussion was also held with the workers, where they highlighted the challenges they face. The workers pointed out that low wages, long working hours, and lack of basic facilities are their major issues, and they urged the relevant authorities to take practical steps to address them.
At the end of the event, tribute was paid to the services of the workers, while the organizers reaffirmed their commitment to continue such initiatives in the future to bring positive change in the lives of workers.
