The CARE Pakistan team visited the Aawaz Aagahi Center in Village Warjhan Kolhi under the Aawaz II Programme to review the center’s progress, Resource Person performance, newly registered cases and the Village Forum’s action plan.

The team also visited the Aawaz Corner at the University of Sindh, Laar Campus, Badin, where they met with Campus In-charge Dr. Muhammad Tufail Chandio and discussed the initiative’s role in promoting youth engagement, awareness, and social inclusion.

Through monitoring, collaboration, and community-led action, Aawaz II continues to strengthen local support systems and amplify community voices.

Empowering Communities Through Livestock Skills!

Sami Foundation, in partnership with Concern Worldwide under the ZCRA Programme, successfully concluded a one-month residential Community Livestock Extension Worker (CLEWs) Training at Sindh Agriculture University (SAU), Tando Jam.

The closing and certification ceremony featured the distribution of CLEWs Toolkits, equipping trained community workers with practical resources to provide livestock support, promote better animal health practices, and strengthen climate-resilient livelihoods at the community level.

The event was attended by Dr. Prof. Muhammad Ismail Kumbhar (SAU), Mr. Faisal Khokhar and Ms. Maira Soomro (Concern Worldwide), and Mr. Ghulam Mustafa Khoso, Mr. Bahadur Khan, and Mr. Jameel Abro (Sami Foundation).

Building Local Capacity for Resilient Livestock Livelihoods

Sami Foundation, in partnership with Concern Worldwide Pakistan under the ZCRA Program, is conducting a one-month residential Community Livestock Extension Workers (CLEWs) Training in collaboration with Sindh Agriculture University, Tando Jam. The training commenced on 24 August 2026 and will be completed on 14 September 2026.

Objective: The training aims to strengthen the technical and practical knowledge of CLEWs in livestock health, nutrition, management, disease prevention, breeding, climate-resilient practices, and community-based livestock extension services.

Support to CLEWs’ Livelihoods: By developing specialized skills and practical expertise, the training will enable CLEWs to provide livestock advisory services within their communities, create opportunities for income generation, and establish themselves as local resource persons supporting livestock-dependent households.

Benefits for Communities: Trained CLEWs will bring essential livestock knowledge and basic advisory support closer to communities, helping farmers improve animal health, nutrition, productivity, and disease prevention while reducing livestock losses and strengthening household livelihoods and resilience.

Investing in local skills today for healthier livestock, stronger livelihoods, and more resilient communities tomorrow.

Theatre for Social Change, Village Warjhan Kolhi

Sami Foundation conducted a Theatre for Social Change activity in Village Warjhan Kolhi, using participatory theatre and storytelling to raise awareness on interfaith harmony, children’s education, and the harmful effects and consequences of child marriage on girls.

The performance brought important social issues to life through drama, dialogue, and community engagement. Deputy Director Social Welfare Department Mr. Kewal Meghwar and Child Protection Officer Mr. Din Mohammad Dero also joined the community to watch and support the theatre performance.

ZCRA Programme | District Shaheed Benazirabad

Under the ZCRA Programme, Concern Worldwide (CWW) and Sami Foundation jointly conducted a series of coordination, inspection, and field assessment activities in District Shaheed Benazirabad to strengthen preparedness, skills development, and climate-resilient interventions.

🔹 Skill Development Training – Coordination & Assessment:
The team, comprising Mr. Faisal Khokhar (CWW), Mr. Ghulam Mustafa Khoso, Mr. Bahadur Khan Khoso and Mr. Jameel Abro (Sami Foundation), held coordination meetings with the management of Shaheen Training Institute, Habib Technology Training Institute, and Mono Technical College, Government of Sindh, regarding planned Skill Development Training. The team also visited ongoing certification courses, observed training sessions, and assessed available training capacity and facilities.

🔹 Drainage Water Point – Rehabilitation Assessment:
The team also visited the Excursion Drainage Water Point, proposed for rehabilitation in coordination with the Sindh Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) and the Irrigation Department. The visit focused on assessing the existing condition of the site and discussing proposed rehabilitation measures and coordination with relevant government stakeholders.

🤝 These activities reflect the continued collaboration between Concern Worldwide and Sami Foundation under the ZCRA Programme to strengthen community resilience, emergency preparedness, livelihood opportunities, and climate-resilient infrastructure in District Shaheed Benazirabad.
