Today, on 14th August, Pakistan’s Independence Day, Sami Foundation, under the Better Cotton Project, organized a Tree Plantation Walk and Plantation Campaign at Sindh Agriculture University, Umerkot Campus.
The campaign aimed to celebrate Independence Day by promoting environmental protection, increasing greenery, and raising awareness about the importance of addressing climate change.
The Pro Vice Chancellor of Sindh Agriculture University,
Prof. Zia Ul Hassan Shah, delivered a speech. He appreciated Sami Foundation’s efforts in organizing the plantation campaign and expressed his gratitude for its contribution towards environmental sustainability.
As part of the campaign, 500 plants were planted by Sami Foundation at the university campus. In addition, the university allotted a complete plantation plot in the name of Sami Foundation, which was formally inaugurated during the event.
The university campus staff and Sami Foundation team actively participated in the program. Suresh Kumar, Program Manager at Sami Foundation, also joined the event and delivered a speech highlighting the importance of climate change, environmental protection, tree plantation, and the significance of 14th August.
The event concluded with a shared commitment from both the university and Sami Foundation to continue promoting tree plantation, environmental sustainability, and climate action for a greener and healthier Pakistan.
