We strive to empower the vulnerable and disenfranchised women in rural areas of Pakistan by building feminist leadership, advances for women’s human rights, advocate and mobilize for gender equality and social justice. “The Awakening” is a right based organization and believes that women and girls can make their own decision, exert control over their bodies and demand their rights by building thei

r capacity in self-confidence, leadership and knowledge of women and girls about their rights and creating feminist platforms to challenge oppressive norms and power structures. Core competencies of “The Awakening” are on social justice, girl education, elimination of violence against women and girls, advocacy and lobbying for pro women laws and promoting a culture of tolerance by taking pragmatic measures for interfaith harmony and protecting rights of religious minorities and transgender communities.

The Awakening appreciates the step towards strengthening reproductive health and rights in Pakistan Federal Budget 2026-27, through the removal of taxes on imported contraceptives and the exemption of taxes on dignified menstrual pads. these measure are expected to improve affordability and access, especially for underserved communities while also promoting menstrual health, dignity and better health outcomes for those who menstruate. overall, these policy shifts reflect a positive direction towards more inclusive rights based public health planning by addressing long standing barriers to essential health products.

Stronger Partnerships, Stronger Future for LSBE/SRHR
The Awakening participated in the PAL – Pakistan Alliance on Life Skills-Based Education (LSBE) Needs Assessment Workshop for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, held in Peshawar.
The workshop provided a valuable platform for partners across KP to discuss key challenges, identify priorities and explore opportunities for strengthening Life Skills-Based Education (LSBE) and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) initiatives in the province. Through collective dialogue and shared learning, participants contributed insights that will help shape future advocacy, programming and partnerships aimed at improving the well-being of adolescents. We look forward to continued collaboration in advancing quality education, life skills and informed decision-making for adolescents across KP.
