On May 11, 2026 a 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐄𝐦𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐲, 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐆𝐈𝐙, 𝐒𝐏𝐇𝐅, 𝐒𝐇𝐑𝐑𝐏, 𝐂𝐑𝐒, 𝐒𝐃𝐏𝐈, 𝐒𝐒𝐏𝐀, 𝐁𝐈𝐒𝐏 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐑𝐒𝐎 visited Village Chaglo Jokhio, UC Gujo, Thatta under the - - Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development funded Adaptive Social Protection ( ) Project implemented by and facilitated by SRSO - Sindh Rural Support Organization.
Distinguished guests included Ms. Mirjam Büdenbender-Buchholz, Counsellor German Embassy, Ms. Maria Jose Poddey, Country Director GIZ, Ms. Johanna Knoess, Head of ASP GIZ, Mr. Shahrukh Khan, Component Lead GIZ, Dr. Muhammad Inam, Dr. Fareeha Armughan, Mr. Sikandar Ali Rahu, Ms. Ghulam Sakina, Mr. Naveed Sheikh COO SPHF, representatives from CRS, SDPI, SSPA and other partner organizations.
Upon arrival at the village, Mr. Khadim Hussain Shar, Regional General Manager , warmly welcomed all delegation members. The delegation then proceeded to the Village Organization ( ) meeting point at Sultan Home Hall, where women-led VO members welcomed the guests with a traditional Sindhi cultural song.
The meeting proceedings started with welcome remarks and introduction of guests by RGM-SRSO.
Mr. Shahrukh Khan from explained the purpose and objectives of the visit. Mr. Adeel Javaid briefed participants on the Climate Resilient Settlement Development Plan ( ) and master plan of the model village with future objectives and interventions, followed by interaction with community members.
Mrs. Lal Bibi from VO Jilani and Village Chaglo Manager welcomed all guests on behalf of the VO and community members.
After the meeting, the delegation visited various intervention sites including Cash for Work ( ) activities where Mr. Naimatullah Sawand, Project Coordinator, explained the labor and skilled labor selection process, TORs, criteria and grievance mechanisms in detail.
The delegation also visited the Mobile Registration Van and GIZ Social Registry Desk where informal workers’ registration activities were ongoing.
engineers briefed participants on schemes including brick pavement, hand pump installation, culvert construction, irrigation channel rehabilitation and pathway demonstrations.
Mr. Ahmed Khan Soomro, -Project Manager, briefed the delegation regarding plantation and shadow tree activities. The delegation also visited organic kitchen gardening plots supported with OPV vegetable seeds for the Kharif season.
Later, Engineer Mr. Waseem briefed participants on the sewerage treatment plant while SRSO Engineer Mr. Junaid and Dr. Hina from GIZ briefed the delegation regarding culvert construction and community infrastructure works.
The delegation further visited hygiene awareness sessions and Digital & Financial Literacy Training ( ).
The guests visited -supported houses constructed for flood-affected families and appreciated the climate resilient housing model and community-based reconstruction approach.
Participants also visited -supported women artisans’ handicraft stalls where Ms. Mirjam Büdenbender-Buchholz purchased traditional hand embroidery items and Ms. Maria Jose Poddey purchased Sindhi Ralli handicrafts prepared by local women artisans.
Tree plantation activities were carried out by Ms. Mirjam Büdenbender-Buchholz, Ms. Maria Jose Poddey and other distinguished guests to promote environmental sustainability and climate resilience.
At the conclusion of the visit, -RGM and DM Tariq Ahmed Korai, presented traditional Sindhi souvenirs including Ajrak, and traditional dupattas to all distinguished guests.
The visit concluded with positive interaction, appreciation from all stakeholders and a warm farewell from the community with smiling faces.
