On May 11, 2026, a high-level delegation comprising representatives from the German Embassy, European Union, CRS, GIZ, SPHF, SHRRP, SDPI, SSPA, BISP, GSF and SRSO visited Village Haji Chaglo Jokhio, UC Gujo, District Thatta under the EU-BMZ funded Adaptive Social Protection (ASP) Project implemented by GIZ and facilitated by SRSO.
The delegation included Ms. Mirjam Büdenbender-Buchholz, Counsellor German Embassy; Ms. Maria Jose Poddey, Country Director GIZ; Ms. Johanna Knoess, Head of ASP GIZ; Mr. Shahrukh Khan, Component Lead GIZ; Dr. Muhammad Inam; Dr. Fareeha Armughan; Mr. Sikandar Ali Rahu; Ms. Ghulam Sakina; Mr. Naveed Sheikh COO SPHF; along with representatives from CRS, GSF, SDPI, SSPA and partner organizations.
The visit focused on the Climate Resilient Settlement Development Plan (CRSDP) being implemented by CRS with facilitation support from GSF – Goth Seengar Foundation in Village Haji Chaglo Jokhio.
Upon arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Mr. Waseem Khan, Project Manager CRS; Mr. Javed Shah, Regional Program Manager GSF; and Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Shah, Senior Project Officer GSF. Women-led Village Organization members welcomed guests with a traditional Sindhi cultural song at Sultan Home Hall.
The meeting commenced with welcome remarks and introduction of participants by SRSO representatives, followed by an overview of the visit objectives by Mr. Shahrukh Khan from GIZ. Mr. Adeel Javaid presented the Climate Resilient Settlement Development Plan and model village interventions, followed by an interactive session with community members.
Mrs. Lal Bibi, Village Manager and representative of the Village Organization, welcomed all distinguished guests on behalf of the community.
During the field visit, the delegation observed ongoing and planned interventions including the sewerage treatment plant, household washrooms, solar street lights, energy-efficient stoves, and community infrastructure development works. Technical briefings were provided by CRS and GSF teams including Mr. Waseem Khan, Mr. Javed Shah, Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Shah, and GSF Project Engineer Mr. Sajid Usman.
The delegation also visited CRS-GSF supported health, hygiene and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) awareness sessions conducted with community members.
Following the village visit, Mr. Javed Shah attended a meeting at the SPHF office where SPHF, in collaboration with GIZ and CRS, signed a tri-party Letter of Understanding (LoU) in the presence of representatives from the European Union and German Embassy for implementation of the Climate Resilient Settlement Development Plan (CRSDP) in Village Haji Chaglo Jokhio, District Thatta.
Through this collaboration, the partners will jointly work on climate-resilient settlement development through improved water and sanitation systems, communal infrastructure, livelihoods support, and community-led social mobilization initiatives to strengthen long-term recovery and resilience in vulnerable communities.
