V-Good Voluntary Global Organization Of Development

V-Good Voluntary Global Organization Of Development V-GOOD (Voluntary - Global Organization of Development). In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone 375448 (2.1%) have some form of disabilities.

In the past two decades many projects working under the government has intervened in the area and organized village communities for implementing specific development projects, but after phasing out on these projects the VO and CO /WO also dispread. No attention was paid to their capacity building therefore a need of an umbrella organization was felt to help the village communities and the departm

ents concerned in a number of areas for which either the department or the communities have no in house experiences. Many discussion where held on this subject among the local expert development professional, which have eventually given birth to the concept of an umbrella Organization “V-GOOD ” This nonprofit organization was established in 2007 and was registered with Directorate of Social Welfare Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2010. The aim of V-GOOD sustainable development of communities affected by natural disaster through its relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction development task, this organization is the technical facilitating and organizational support institution providing services to the communities through their legitimate community based organization involved. Although the general perception on disability in the country is fairly poor, the vision of the National policy for person with disability states that by 2025, an environment that would allow full realization of the positional of person with disabilities will be provided through their inclusive mainstreaming with full support from government, private sector and civil society, According to the 1998 Census, it was estimated that total (2.4%) of the population has some from disable in the country. It is recognize by the government that the prevalence rate is higher that indicated by the census. Pakistan is a signatory to the proclamation on the full participation of people with disabilities (PWDs) in the Asian and the pacific region; however there are still no specific social services schemes for PWDs apart from those established as part of the social security system outlined in the National social welfare system. An initial attempt to address this sector was made through the establishment of the Pakistan Bait Ul Mal (PBM) in 1992 to provide the basic necessities such as food stamp, Clothing, education, financial aid, and establishment of vocational training center and medical relief for poor, orphan, windows, disabled and the destitute. But this is not enough and it needs more political will to be fully implemented specially in the rural mountain areas where such services can to reach. V-GOOD (Voluntary - Global Organization of Development) Continues to operationalize mainstreaming of disability across all its programs and projects in Pakistan not only because of the urgency of this concern, but also because of the positive contribution of PWDs to society. This project will ensure that vulnerable individuals with disability are given preference and are presented in the water and sanitation services Delivery Management committee and also are given in provision of other facilities such as construction of latrines and washing pads.
