A heartwarming moment
Today, Dar-e-Arqam Schools Sadiqabad welcomed two beautiful souls โ€” Rayyan (11) and Ismail (8), both amazing children with Down syndrome. A Heartwarming Connection Beyond Borders โœจ

During my recent visit to Malaysia ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡พ, I had the honor of meeting a very special family in Malacca. For the past two years, I have been connected on Facebook with Ija, the proud mother of little Muhammad, a 4-year-old boy with Down syndrome. As a father of an amazing 11-year-old boy, Rayan, who also has Down syndrome, our bond has always been built on sharing experiences, challenges, and joys of parenting these angels.

When Ija learned that I was in Malaysia, she warmly invited me to her home. Although I couldnโ€™t reach her house due to traffic and shortage of time, she made the incredible effort to come all the way to the airport with her husband, daughters, nephew, and of course, the shining star โ€“ little Muhammad!

Meeting them in person was an unforgettable moment for me. ๐Ÿค— The joy, the smiles, and the love we shared reminded me that the Down syndrome community is truly one big global family. I was especially touched when Ija brought thoughtful gifts for my son Rayan. Such gestures of kindness and connection prove that love and understanding know no borders. ๐ŸŒ

This journey has given me renewed hope and strength to continue advocating for awareness, acceptance, and inclusion for individuals with Down syndrome in Pakistan and across the world.

In North Macedonia, an 11-year-old girl named Embla Ademi, who has Down syndrome, faced mocking at her school after some parents complained about her being in the same class as their children. The incident drew national attention, and this week, President Stevo Pendarovski decided to take a powerful stand for inclusion. He personally visited Embla and her family, gave her gifts, and then walked hand-in-hand with her to school.

The President said that children with disabilities deserve equal opportunities and support, stressing that society must stand against discrimination of any kind. His gesture quickly went viral, with people praising him for showing kindness, courage, and leadership. Emblaโ€™s story has now become a symbol of hope and acceptance.

January is ! Did you know that individuals with Down syndrome are more likely to have endocrine problems than the general population, including thyroid disfunction?

๐ŸŸก Hypothyroidism can occur in both children and adults with Down syndrome and can lead to tiredness, slow thinking, changing weight, and irritability. Doctors should also consider testing patients with Down syndrome if any new symptoms of sleepiness, confusion or mood changes occur. Hypothyroidism can occur at any time from infancy through adulthood. Currently, there is no evidence as to whether hyperthyroidism is more prevalent in individuals with Down syndrome than in the general population.

๐Ÿ”ต You can learn more about both of these conditions at ndss.org/resources/endocrine-conditions-syndrome
