Did you know plants can sense their caretakers?

Yes, they can!

EEG studies have shown that plants perk up when their caretakers come in their vicinity.

Isn't it amazing?

This info led me to name my mango plant.

Meet him, this is Amba, a 1.5-year-old mango plant. I grew it from the seed of a mango I ate in summer of 2023.

Previously, I used to check on it every few weeks. But after coming to know about this study, I try to meet him every other day.

At times, I think I am crazy to behave this way.

Who walks around blocks to meet a plant?

The study could be wrong and plants might never sense humans individually.

But we humans can very much sense them, right?

When we love people, places, or even trees, we want to connect.

So, I go to connect with my baby tree. He knows it or not, shouldn't matter, isn't it?

Ans: I work as a labour in a shop.

3. Since receiving the goat, has your family's monthly income increased?

Ans: Yes.

4. If yes, by how much?

5. How often does the family consume goat milk as part of their diet now as compared to before receiving the goat?

Ans: My old parents use goat milk. We use it for making tea.

6. Have you been able to sell any milk, meat, or offspring from the goat?

Ans: No.

(He returned 2 offsprings as per agreement, which were further donated to other families. This is the main reason he couldn't sell any offspring)*

7. If yes, how much income have you generated from selling those products?

Ans: Not Applicable

8. Have the living condition of your family improved since receiving the goat?

Ans: Yes, by the grace if God, my financial condition is much better now. The one goat I got gave birth to a baby goat and now I have two goats.

9. Has owning a goat reduced your family's dependence on external aid or loans?

Ans: I have not taken any external loan.

10. What challenges, if any, have you received in caring for the goat?

Ans: I had an issue initially as I didn't have a shelter to keep the goat but now I have built one. So, for now, there's no issue.

It Doesn’t Take a Fortune to Make a Difference

Our first donation cost just Rs.5,500 (i.e about $20). With this amount, we purchased five adult hens for a family in need.

Within days, the hens began laying eggs, providing a reliable source of nutrition and a way to earn money.

With eggs costing Rs300–Rs500 per dozen (depending on the season), the family could soon afford to add more hens to their flock, boosting production even further.

How can you replicate something similar in your own circle?

Donate a set of five or even three hens for just Rs.3,000($12) to help another family start their journey towards self-sustainability.

You may also keep hens for your own personal use to ensure a fresh supply of eggs, reduce grocery expenses and ample use of kitchen waste.

So, what's the formula?

Small Investment + Little Effort = A Sustainable Solution

Even a modest amount can create lasting change. Why not start small and make a big impact?
