The Supreme Court of Pakistan has suspended the sentence against human rights lawyers Imaan Mazari Hazir and Advocate Hadi Ali, granting them bail of Rs. 200,000 each.

After nearly 8 months of detention, this development highlights the continuing challenges faced by human rights defenders in Pakistan.

We call for justice, due process, and the release of all human rights defenders detained on unjust or arbitrary charges.

On 31 August 2026, Defence of Human Rights (DHR) held a peaceful protest gathering outside the Islamabad Press Club to mark the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances and to stand in solidarity with victims and their families, and to continue the fight against Injustice!

The gathering was attended by members of civil society, student groups, families of the disappeared, human rights defenders, and lawyers, who came together to demand truth, justice, accountability, and the safe return of those who remain missing.

We will continue to raise our voices until enforced disappearances end.
