The Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Wah, in collaboration with the AIChE UW Chapter, organized an Industry–Academia Seminar titled “Shaping Engineering & Science Careers through HSE: Safety, Risk & Global Employability” on Tuesday, 02 June 2026. The seminar was held at Main Lecture Hall-01, Quaid Campus, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
The seminar was graced by Mr. Bilal Ahmed Shah, a distinguished industry professional with over 25 years of global experience in Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) management. The seminar commenced with a formal welcome extended by the AIChE UW Core Team and the faculty members of the Department of Chemical Engineering.
Mr. Bilal Ahmed Shah delivered a comprehensive and engaging talk spanning approximately 45 minutes.
The speaker opened with a candid overview of the current global industrial landscape, emphasizing the shift in employer expectations beyond technical competencies. Mr. Shah elaborated on how Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) competency serves as a powerful differentiator in competitive job markets. The speaker outlined various career trajectories available to engineering and science graduates who integrate HSE into their professional development. A significant portion of the session was dedicated to exploring international career opportunities available in the HSE domain.
In this segment, Mr. Shah shared practical strategies for career planning, including how to position oneself as a well-rounded candidate in the job market.
Following the main address, a 15-minute interactive Question & Answer session was conducted. Students from the audience engaged enthusiastically with the speaker.
At the conclusion of the seminar, Dr. Saleem Iqbal, Chairperson of the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Wah, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks on behalf of the department and the AIChE UW Chapter.
