"World Soil Day"
The REEDS team celebrated World Soil Day, observed globally on December 5th each year to highlight the vital role of soil in sustaining life. Soil is an irreplaceable gift of nature—the source of our fruits, vegetables, food crops, and even the cotton used to make our clothes. Healthy soil ensures strong agricultural productivity, supports tree plantations, and protects land from threats such as erosion, desertification, and salinity. Recognizing its importance, the REEDS team emphasized practices like tree plantation, agroforestry, and responsible land management to preserve soil fertility. By caring for our soil today, we can secure a healthier, more resilient, and sustainable future for generations to come.

Coordination is key to the success and sustainability of programs.

Today, ADO (Awami Development Organization), a sub-recipient of REEDS, conducted a coordination and exposure visit with Jhpiego’s Community Engagement Coordinator for South Punjab. During the visit, we explored REEDS’ ongoing field activities for the HPV post-campaign, engaged in productive discussions at the office, and mapped out further planning to strengthen and streamline the campaign. Our ultimate aim is that, as the HPV vaccine becomes part of the routine immunization, the community will be well-informed.
This way, when the next cohort of nine-year-old girls is due for vaccination, their parents will be fully committed to ensuring that the HPV vaccine is administered.

International Men’s Day Celebrations – Better Cotton (REEDS Vehari)

REEDS Pakistan Vehari team organized meaningful International Men’s Day celebrations across various PUs under the Better Cotton Program, bringing together farmers, field staff, and Gender Committee members. The activities highlighted the positive contributions of men in cotton-growing communities and emphasized their vital role in promoting gender equality, wellbeing, and sustainable agricultural practices.

During these sessions, participants engaged in discussions on men’s health, stress management, positive masculinity, and the importance of shared responsibilities both at home and in the field. Farmers reflected on how supportive male behaviors—such as respecting women’s participation, ensuring safe working environments, and promoting fairness—strengthen families and enhance community resilience.

The events celebrated progressive male role models, encouraged open dialogue to challenge harmful stereotypes, and promoted cooperation between men and women as equal partners in cotton production. These engagements align with Better Cotton’s vision of fostering inclusive, healthy, and gender-balanced communities.

A powerful step forward in building supportive, aware, and equitable cotton-producing communities across District Vehari.
