DRS envisions a world without poverty, violance and injustice. Introduction:
Development Resource Solutions is a local not-for-profit, non-governmental, development organization working in Balochistan since 2000. DRS is registered with government of Balochistan since 2003 under voluntary social welfare agencies (registration and control ordinance 1961). DRS works with the rural communities especial
ly in northern districts of Balochistan with the aim to enhance social and economic conditions of the poorest and marginalized segments of the society with a major focus on women and children. DRS was established by a group of young and enthusiastic social activists in 2000, for initiating their first project of establishing a ‘Development Resource Centre’ in collaboration with district government of Killa Abdullah (Chaman). This public private partnership was successfully materialized with the active involvement of business community of the district (Chamber of Commerce) and district government of Killa Abdullah. Keeping in view, the support and appreciation extended by the community, DRS decided to formally register itself with the social welfare department in 2003 and started its activities in a more formal and organized way. DRS believes that community participation is vital for sustainable development and therefore indigenous solutions to the newly arising developmental questions are more durable and can effectively address basic needs of the society. We employ innovative ideas and approaches to accelerate the process of development in a sustainable way. We believe that public private partnership is an effective approach to fulfill basic needs of the deprived segments of the society especially for development of physical infrastructure. PPP not only ensures community participation and ownership, but also ensures long term durability and sustainability of the development through public care and maintenance. DRS has played a vital role in raising awareness and organizing community at grass root level on core developmental issues. Women, children and minorities are the focus target groups of infrastructure development interventions and these marginalized segments of the society are also prioritized for the provision of basic needs of life including primary health and basic education.
