Commemorating the 95t
h Birth Anniversary of I. A. Rehman
Today marks the 95th birth anniversary of I. A. Rehman, a distinguished journalist, intellectual, and one of the most respected human rights defenders of our time. His lifelong struggle for freedom of expression, the protection of fundamental rights for all citizens, peace and harmony in South Asia, and the advancement of labour and minority rights movements across the world remains unparalleled.
Mr. Rehman’s commitment to justice and human dignity inspired generations. He served as Director and Secretary-General of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) from 1990 to 2016, and continued to guide the Commission as its honorary spokesperson until his passing in 2021.
His vision, courage, and unwavering voice for the marginalized will always be remembered as a beacon for human rights and democratic values.
