Between 2020 and 2025, Pakistan significantly increased ***co taxation, particularly through sharp adjustments in Federal Excise Duty (FED). While this policy has raised cigarette prices substantially, the decline in smoking prevalence has been modest.
Estimated data show that smoking prevalence declined from approximately 20.0% in 2020 to 18.5% in 2024, a reduction of only 7.5%, while effective cigarette prices increased by roughly 70% during the same period.

گزشتہ سال اغواء کے بعد انتہائی بیدردی اور ظالمانہ طریقے سے قتل کی جانے والی ڈاکٹر وردہ کی ٹیوٹا ریز کار کی ابھی تک سپرداری نہیں کروائی گئی۔
ڈاکٹر وردہ کی یہ گاڑی ایک پولیس آفیسر کے زیر استعمال ہے۔

اس حوالے سے جب معلومات لی گئیں تو بتایا گیا کہ نئی گاڑی ہے۔ تھانے میں کھڑی کھڑی خراب ہو جائے گی اور خدشہ یہ بھی ہے کہ گاڑی کا سامان بھی غائب ہو جائے گا۔

آفیسر موصوف گاڑی کی بروقت مینٹنس اور صفائی کا خاص خیال رکھتے ہیں۔ جب تک گاڑی کی سپرداری نہیں ہو جاتی۔ گاڑی محفوظ رہے گی۔

The Justice system in Pakistan remains grappling with an overwhelming case backlog, with over two million cases pending, a significant portion of which stems from inadequacies in Case Property Management, specifically, the handling of seized vehicles. This study thoroughly investigates the procedural realities and institutional constraints in car Supardari the judicial release of vehicles under custody within Pakistan’s framework of property rights. We employed a mixed-methods research technique, gathering primary data through structured questionnaires administered to law enforcement officials, judicial officers, and affected vehicle owners. The aim was to assess the efficiency of existing administrative and legal procedures in safeguarding ownership rights and ensuring justice in cases involving seized vehicles. The analysis indicates that, despite the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), which provides a well-structured legal foundation for Supardari, its implementation remains inconsistent and inefficient. The key identified obstacles include delayed judicial decisions and processes, weak coordination across institutions, and poor maintenance of seized vehicles. These practical shortcomings lead to financial losses, erode public trust, and undermine confidence in Pakistan's justice system. Finally, the study recommended establishing a digital case property management procedure, improving institutional coordination, and prioritizing the updating of existing storage in district-wise programs for relevant authorities. This includes enhancing transparency and accountability, ensuring the justice system's credibility, and strengthening citizens' property rights.
