"Psychology and Psychotherapy in the Digital Age: A Guide for Practitioners".
Patients are discussing AI and chatbots in therapy, using the technology to seek additional support with their mental health, self-diagnose, or for friendship and intimate relationships. But AI is not a safe or effective replacement for a qualified mental health provider and should be used carefully.

APA’s new survey looks at how psychologists are seeing AI show up in patient care—and offers guidance on navigating AI-generated advice thoughtfully and safely.

Point to Ponder!
The dilemma of the digital age:

Technology though connects us to the world, however meaningful living also requires connection with our communities, nature, public spaces, and the joy of reading. The challenge is not choosing between the digital and the real world, it is learning to value both.

The Psychology of Migration: How People Suffer and Gain When They Become Migrants

Milan Kundera( renowned novelist) wrote about displacement as a complex psychological condition rather than merely a physical relocation. In his words:
"Living in a foreign country means walking a tightrope high above the ground without the net afforded a person by the country where he has his family, colleagues, and friends."
Kundera's statment captures the psychological vulnerability of exile, the constant need to adapt without a familiar social support, cultural belonging, and established social networks.

Migration is both a challenging and transformative experience. While migrants may face culture shock, loneliness, discrimination, identity conflicts, and psychological stress, however they may also gain resilience, economic opportunities, education, and personal growth. The psychological outcomes of migration depend on factors such as social support, cultural adaptation, economic stability, and the circumstances surrounding migration.
In this context, I am pleased to share that Mr. Amir Iqbal Mohmand, a student from neighboring District Mohmand, has successfully completed his Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Psychology under my supervision in the Department of Psychology, Islamia College University. His thesis, titled "Forced Repatriation, Distress, Impulsivity, and Self-Harm among Afghan Refugees in Pakistan," examines the psychological consequences of one of the region's most significant and enduring migration experiences.

The findings high lighted an important yet often overlooked psychological dimensions of a historical migration process ( Pak_afghan) that has shaped lives across nearly five decades. The study also highlighted mental health challenges associated with forced repatriation and recomand areas for interventions and policy development.

The applied significance of this research will be shared with relevant stakeholders and departments to contribute to evidence-based policy guidelines and lessons learned. The study holds relevance for academia as well as for policymakers, mental health professionals, humanitarian organizations, and the governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Please join us in congratulating Amir Mohmand on this remarkable academic achievement and wishing him continued success in his future endeavors. His work represents a meaningful contribution not only to psychological research but also to our understanding of migration, displacement, and refugee well-being.

To the Honorable Additional Chief Secretary,

Subject: Inclusion of mental health initiatives in the development Projects.
Dear sir,
The approval of major development schemes in the province is, in itself, a welcome step, however, the cornerstone of any society’s progress is undoubtedly human development.

At a time when the entire country in general, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular, is facing a wide range of mental health challenges, the absence of even a single mental health initiative among the 41 development projects approved during the 21st meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) is a matter of serious concern.

There may be two possible reasons for this omission:

1. The absence of reliable data and a comprehensive action plan regarding mental health, which may reflect the limited engagement and insufficient mobilization of psychology professionals.
2. The lack of a clear and proactive mental health policy at the governmental level.

Otherwise, I have known the current Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Mr. Islam Zeb, for more than a decade as an exceptionally capable administrator. Therefore, I am confident that this important issue has not been overlooked intentionally.

In this regard, the national professional body of psychological sciences, the Khyber Psychological Association (KPA), will seek a meeting with the Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, during the coming week, to provide a comprehensive briefing on this urgent and important matter and to advocate for the inclusion of mental health initiatives in the next phase of development planning.
Thanks in anticipation
