Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Assembly as Institute Of Youth Democrats is launched in 2016 to engage youth in KP in healthy discourse and expose them to the democratic process and practices. Members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Assembly are selected for the duration a year at a time. The first batch of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Youth Assembly was selected in 2016. Establishment and facilitation of the Youth Assembly KP is a focus on youth in the country and youth’s awareness education and training in the norms of politics and democracy in the country. KPYA strongly feels that sustainable democracy and the sustainability of sound democratic institutions in Pakistan is not possible without youth’s involvement in the democratic and political process even if this involvement is simply as a citizen of a voter or a leader.The KP Youth Assembly is fully supported by the KP Government and the CM KP Pervaiz Khan Khattak issued an official notifications to the all departments and district governments of KP to facilitate all parliamentary sessions of KP In there respective districts in all district council halls. The specific objectives of KP Youth Assembly are to educate Pakistani Youth about politics and democracy and to demonstrate to them how parliaments are able to:
do legislation
debate matters of national and international concern
demand accountability from those in government
discuss legislation in committee
change government without recourse to civil disorder. Key Features
As a model assembly for young people the KP Youth Assembly is patterned after the Provincial Assembly KP although its membership is smaller then that of KP Assembly. Wherever possible , the Youth Assembly Of KP follows the rules of procedures as close to the Provincial Assembly of KP as practical. However practices from other Assembly’s are also adopted to expose Pakistani Youth to comparative parliamentary practices.
