Manzil Foundation strongly condemns the brutal and inhumane behavior of Haripur Police against the transgender community in Haripur.
Reports show that police are stopping transgender persons from earning their livelihood through wedding functions, which is one of the few available income sources for this marginalized community. This is unacceptable and pushes them further into poverty and exclusion.
Manzil Foundation Executive Director and KP transgender community president, Madam Arzoo Khan, stated that while police are responsible for protecting citizens, they are instead subjecting transgender persons to violence and inhumane treatment.
We demand the KP Government take immediate action and ensure justice in this incident. We also call on all human rights organizations, civil society, and media to raise their voice in support of the transgender community.
